A Trip to Brodick 27.08.15
« on: Aug 28, 2015, 01:59 PM »
Yesterday I took a trip Greenock - Brodick (Isle of Arran) - Largs on Waverley. This is one of my favourite cruises on the ship as there are plenty of piers and the scenery is beautiful.

The weather forecast was not in our favour but as left Greenock it started to brighten up and only rained twice during the rest of the day.
The pics below illustrate some of the views during our wee sail.

The ship's main Clyde season draws to a close this Sunday and Waverley departs for her Wales, Bristol Channel, South Coast of England and Thames seasons before returning to the Clyde mid October for a final weekend of sailings before laying up for the winter. Lets hope we don't get a repeat of last year where she was stormbound on the South Coast, had to cancel her October Clyde sailings and was unable to return to her Clyde berth until November!

Pic 1: Waverley waits to receive her passengers for the day's cruise
Pic 2: The destination boards detailing the pier calls for the day.
Pic 3: Departure from Largs - heading for....
Pic 4: Keppel Pier on Great Cumbrae (Millport pier is out of use pending repairs)
Pic 5: View of the wake heading to Arran with the Cumbraes in the background
Pic 6 & 7: Views of Waverley departing Brodick for her 1.5hr Pladda Island Cruise. Arran's highest mountain Goatfell in the background.

She really is a cracking old girl!!

Thanks June,

She arrived in Liverpool this morning so is all set to take up her short two day programme of sailings there before moving onto the Bristol Channel, South Coast and eventually the Thames programmes.

All being well she will return to the Clyde for one last weekend in October before laying up for the winter. Heres hoping she doesn't get stormbound on the South Coast like last year - eventually returning to Glasgow late November!
