Lots of labels!

CFW to Penthouses

HFW to Penthouses

HFW Riser to Boat Deck Water Station

CFW to Caronia Coffee Station

HFW to Caronia & Britannia

HFW to QG Galley

H&C Returns

CFW Riser to Boat Deck Water Station

Sanitary water riser to boat deck water station

Doors like this were often left open, deliberately I believe, so they could see what was leaking!

This is the AC Units added during her warm layup to keep her crew comfortable.  Holes had been drilled into her superstructure to facilitate these, not for the first time!

Food and beverages for the crew after arriving in Dubai...

The wardroom appears to ceased to function at 8.30pm on 28-11-08.

An original QE2 'Race' chair sitting on its own on the working alleyway, for no apparent reason...

I'd be curious to know from what era, and what restaurant, the pattern is.

I wonder if its still there... I'd put money on it being in that exact spot I think.

From Michael's account, the chair looks as if it might have been one of the 'brown' upholstered ones that was an original 1969 version having started life in the Columbia / Mauritania.

Oh how good it would be to go and fetch it 'home' - it would suit the 'brown' on her younger fleet-mate QV, so well wouldn't it?!
We could easily find an alcove, the lighting wouldn't be a problem, the metal legs need a bit of spit 'n polish - and it would look fantastic.
Time those 'other ships' started to fill up with QE2's unwanted genuinely vintage bits!

I have just purchased one of these chairs complete with original label stating 'Columbia' restaurant. It is upholstered in navy blue with orangey gold colour rococo pattern. Can anyone let me know what the original fabric would have been post leather/PVC. I would like to have it re-upholstered or should I leave as is? Grateful if anyone could advise 😊

Hi Cameroa
There's an excellent topic already on TQS regarding the chairs, you can find it via the search window, or here too!

Are these similar to yours?

Looks as if they may be advertised in Asia too...

Heading a bit off topic here, Mods - sorry!

Not sure if I should have it re-upholstered to the ruby red mohair as the last time I sat in one was the Princess Grill or the peachy beige Caronia colour.

Oh how glorious Rob. I remember many of these places from our tour in 2008 for the book but some are totally new to me. How brilliant.
