Did you know QE2 had a bus stop?

I think, at the time, I was asked not to publish this one because of the rusty propeller shaft.  It used to shine.

I think this was John Duffy's store-room.  It was right next to his office.  I think it had been an original bath-room as it had a very 60s vinyl wall covering.  When you came across "the 60s" in unseen spaces like this, the age of the ship suddenly struck you.

The very front of the ship.

I'm sorry, I don't remember the accurate name for this space.  But it was at the extreme front of the ship.

Under the bow

I think this shows the new ropes that they'd bought after she snapped her lines a few months previously...

Also, there's a massive dusty pile of lifejackets to the right.  Were they for the crew?  Did they come and help themselves when the emergency call went up?

Oh Rob - It's a Merseytravel bus stop - parked alongside an L for Lightbody - How good is that? :)
QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

Hi Rob - These photos are fascinating !  Thanks very much for posting them !  They show some of her "insides" which most do have the opportunity to see.  June

The prop shafts - as far back and down as you can go inside the ship.  I did go down, I nearly got stuck...

Secured by a pretty little yellow gate, but I'd imagine if you went down there when they were spinning at 144rpm it would be very dangerous indeed!

Standing on top of the penthouses, looking at the gap between the two eras.  A window looks out on a wall of metal... seemed a shame that they left a pointless window like that, but I guess they were doing it all in a rush as usual!

Lots of do not use signs in the ECR...

Rob, do you recall to what controls or sensors the "Do not use" signs were affixed ?

An original QE2 'Race' chair sitting on its own on the working alleyway, for no apparent reason...

I'd be curious to know from what era, and what restaurant, the pattern is.

I wonder if its still there... I'd put money on it being in that exact spot I think.

Lots of labels!

HFW Riser to Boat Deck Water Station

CFW to Caronia Coffee Station

HFW to Caronia & Britannia

HFW to QG Galley

H&C Returns

CFW Riser to Boat Deck Water Station

Doors like this were often left open, deliberately I believe, so they could see what was leaking!

This is the AC Units added during her warm layup to keep her crew comfortable.  Holes had been drilled into her superstructure to facilitate these, not for the first time!
