There is a poll attached to this topic - please vote.

Some think QE2 should be scrapped, some think she should be saved.

But how do you feel if we officially make that The QE2 Story's view?  It would make it easier to "campaign" to save the ship.

At the risk of being pedantic ::), the way the wording is presented is that by voting yes , We are voting that the forum stance  is to save QE2 as a hotel only , are we not voting that the forums stance is to save QE2  in general terms ? the outcome of her saving can be assumed to be a hotel but shouldnt we take this as read.

By voting No the forum should stay neutral . why add the bit about scrapping, Thats rather like Henry Fords options on chosing the colour of his first cars, You can have any colour you like... as long as its black...

I definitely feel that The QE2 Story taking a stand in the saving of our QE2 is important and something that we should do.

Voted Yes.

Voted yes. I think The QE2 Story should back any attempt in saving QE2, even if it's not as a hotel.

Though personally I don't believe there are many other options than hotel / museum / convention centre, like the SS Rotterdam.

All votes so far are yes, and the recent newspaper poll was overwhelmingly "save QE2".  We, The QE2 Story, should very vocally support saving our beloved QE2.  We should also support saving her in whatever way(s) we can !

The newspaper poll is especially important; no longer can anyone claim that the general public are uninterested or couldn't care less.

Cunard / Carnival take note - should anything adverse happen to QE2, your image and PR is clearly going to take far more of a high profile clobbering than anyone, myself included, has previously thought.

I find this as a yes, but no, but yes, situation, as I'm sure we all do. YES I vote QE2 should be saved, for all the previous mentioned reasons for the past 'N' years that this forum has existed, if a hotel is the only option other than the scrapyard then yes yes yes.If she should end up as some gaudy casino former shadow of herself , under the guise as a hotel in some dingy far east Chinese suberb (because they have the cash) then I would sooner remember as she was& alas  vote for the alternative , as heart rendering as that might be.......................the poor old girl deserves so much better!

I voted yes. Unlike some others I don't really care what form she is preserved in. As long as people still get access to her it doesn't really matter to me. I obviously would prefer her to be at home in the UK. However, if the only way to save her is to moor her elsewhere then that will be so much better than watching her decay in Dubai. The last time I saw her was April 2012 when I was on QM2 in Dubai. I hated leaving her there.

Our beloved QE2 as an hotel could also house shops, restaurants, a museum, and convention and events spaces.

Have the various groups now interested in bringing her home thought of moving her from London for a year, then Southampton for a year, then Liverpool for a year, then somewhere on The Clyde ?  Perhaps positioning her in different locations in the UK for a period of time would allow all to work together to bring her home.

Our rallying cry should be "Bring Her Home !".

Being a American myself It just makes me sad to see great liners in decay, The United States, and now QE2! I mean if people around the world start to save the very few liners left it will preserve the story of the liners. If we save the QE2 and turn it into a hotel it lets kids and future generations learn about a era long gone! So, I support the QE2 being a hotel.

I would like to ask the active members of this forum, if you are happy what I said on your behalf (attached) :-

I never described us as a campaign group, but it seems to have stuck.  Are you happy with this?

Am I speaking for you?  (in general)

For those of you who just want to see her scrapped and put out of her misery, am I upsetting you and stopping you wanting to use the forum to enjoy your QE2 stories from the past?

He garbled one bit - I'd said that she was especially famous in the 70s and 80s when she was "constantly in the news" but he's written "used constantly" - but other than that, its what I told him.

Perfect for me, Rob. Same wavelength.

The Scottish plan sounds really great but my feeling is that they will need to put up a very good plan very quickly to make it work.

Gets my vote too Rob.

I have always thought that the weight of opinion voiced here on the forum should be used to keep pressure on those who have steadfastly refused to do anything positive with QE2.
Don't just be part of her past, be part of her history!

I'm happy with it - we have certainly morphed into a campaign group in recent months haven't we?

When the opportunity arises, we should perhaps also stress that above all else we are QE2 historians.

That is after all what we were started for and it is hopefully what our legacy will be whatever happens to QE2, but it is without a doubt that had we not collated all this history, detail and stories about her there would already be nothing to campaign for.   So the two descriptionsof us are now inseparable.

Besides - there is nobody qualified to campaign for her other than us collectively is there?
