And, the last instalment.

As well as listed crew, on this last voyage there was one of the highest totals ever of crew families/partners/siblings/spouses (or is it spousi??).
Along with the full pax list, I wonder if this was one of the highest POB totals she ever carried in peacetime?

Michael - any chance of some numbers on that front??

John Duffy seems to be in so many photos - he missed the Tech Team one in the ECR though!

Cheers

Fabulous list, Skilly -- thank you!

Just shows what a huge number of people were involved in keeping QE2 running smoothly...

I suppose that such lists were not published for every voyage -- this must have been a special souvenir. Was it made available to passengers too?

Do you know if it was a busy one, June?

If anyone still has a Daily Programme(s), it would be interesting to know whether the same format was followed, as with any other previous sea day...
Who were the Lecturers?
Were the Bridge teachers on board?
And the Entertainers, was it anyone special?
There are still many crew-members  on board the current Cunard ships who took QE2 to Dubai.

Hi Rosie -

I am sure it was a very busy day, not only with activities aboard, but with those aboard saying good bye to their beloved ship in many different ways and in ways that would continue throughout the voyage.

I was far away in New London, CT, USA, wishing I were aboard and not still believing that our QE2 had been sold, had completed her "Goodbye Voyages" and was now on her final voyage to Dubai.  It was surrealistic to say the least.

It would indeed be very interesting to see the daily programmes from her final voyage.  Perhaps Michael could help us out in that respect.

Hi Skilly -

Thank you so very much for taking the time to post each page of the farewell crew booklet.  It is a wealth of information to be able to see all of those who took part in our QE2's fateful voyage.  And it is a tribute to all who worked aboard to make QE2 the very special ship that she was (and still is).

In photo 0032, the sign on the wall must be referring to the number of days left from when the photo was taken.

I am looking forward very much to studying in detail each page of the booklet.  Thanks again for making it available to us !

June   :)

He was scheduled to be replaced in the Queen's Grill for this final voyage, as his time for leave had come.

In order to remain on board, which he absolutely wanted, he was offered the job in the Mauretania and gladly accepted. And so, he was able to stay on the ship until the bitter end...

I did not know him well, but when we left the ship on 30 September 2008, I walked round the Boat Deck one last time and found him inside, in the Queen's Grill. I waved to him, and then we both pressed our right hands against the window glass for a good-bye. It was quite a moving scene...

Arrival Malta was noisy, with an appropriate salute for royalty!!

And, the navigation team on that final voyage.

And, her AIS is on at the moment.

Thank you for those, Skilly!

Malta was her last port of call in Europe... I remember the sinking feeling I had at the time that the end was very nigh indeed...

And all the time, I was glued to her bridgecam.
