Great pictures Hauke! I really like the one of the QE2 'under the tree'.

Yes now you mention it, I think it would indeed.

Something to look into over the next few months...

There are plenty of places around online for getting jigsaw prints, or someone here could print them theirselves. Maybe speak to Rob about it? I hope you don't mind but I may start a topic about it so that we can discuss it?

Recently Isabelle and June came up with a fantastic idea of QE2 Story Jigsaws. I thought I would see what other people think of Isabelle and June's brilliant idea. I think it is a great idea, and perhaps it could work similar to the photo competition in that winning photos could be produced as jigsaws? What do you think?...

Hi Rob and All - After the discussion between Isabelle, Adam, and myself yesterday regarding making a QE2 Story jigsaw, the on line jigsaw appeared.  So I am thinking the idea was seen here.

I think we should consider doing a jigsaw, perhaps 500 pieces like the ones we are circulating.  I am wondering if one would have to check with Dubai or Cunard in order to use our QE2 in an image ?  I would think that a photograph by a Forum member would not be difficult, as in all probability, that person would allow us to use it.

Alan, any ideas on how to do this if indeed we did it ?

I personally think a series of new QE2 jigsaws put out by The QE2 Story would be marvelous !

I did a quick search via Google which brought up a plethora of sites/companies that specialise in this for varying pricing dependant upon jigsaw size.

Two of the better ones for larger jigsaws of 1000 or 2000 pieces were:

http://www.myphotopuzzle.co.uk/photo-puzzle/?tc=ga&gclid=CILZ_oHd070CFRDItAoduywAAA

http://www.myravensburger.com/start/index.html?lang=en

I suspect that if the companies were contacted directly they would offer a discounted rate for a bulk order.

As for the intellectual property of any image used, that remains with the owner of the original. So as long as permission is sought from the owner, i.e. one of our members, then there are no problems. Dubai owns the vessel not rights to her image unless they hold title to that photo.

Ravensburger are high quality jigsaw puzzles.

If we could use them to build our own, that could be an excellent idea. With a jigsaw, it is really important that the cardboard used is strong and is well cut, and that the shapes are all a bit different, so there is something to be said in going for a reputable producer. The quality of the reproduction of the picture is also important, but to my mind a bit less so. Needless to say, Ravensburger would make a fine job of that too.

Thank you very much, Graham, for researching this and providing information regarding rights to the photos.  This seems an exciting prospect.  I will check out the sites.  June  :)

Hi Isabelle - Thank you very much for your post.  Ravensburger is one of the sites Graham mentioned as well.  Yes, agreed that the cardboard used must be strong and that it does not bend easily, and that the shapes are a bit different.  Shall we research Ravensburger further ?  June

You all read my mind. I was about to suggest sites such as Ravensburger. Perhaps we could research them and get in contact with them?... I am into photography and this sort of thing so it's would be great if we produced our own jigsaws! :)

Great to see this idea advancing so quickly!

Yes, it was in response to Graham's suggestion that I looked at the Ravensburger -- most of our jigsaws are by them, and are excellent, but I had not realised that they also produce special orders for customers!
