This month's theme is "QE2 winter views", chosen for March by seagreen, the winner of the December competition.

This is a slightly more demanding theme than some of its predecessors, since most of us never saw QE2 with snowed-in decks or with icicles hanging off the bridge. We therefore decided to adopt some clear rules, which should help us to find some suitable pictures to enter.

QE2 : The picture must contain at the very least a small part of QE2.

Winter : Taking the widest possible definition of winter, any QE2 picture taken between 1 November and 31 March of any year will qualify for this competition. It does not matter whether the scene is wintry or not -- indeed, world cruises are all eligible. Entries will need to indicate the month in which the picture was taken.

Views : These could be both views of QE2 and views from QE2. Interior photos would be admissible only if there was a clear view of something wintry (e.g. Christmas decorations) in the picture.

The prize for the winner will be a QE2 picture frame brought from the ship in 2008.

The album is open -  so now is the time to look for your most interesting pictures on this theme. Wishing you fun as you search your photo collection to find three pictures to upload to the competition album:

We look forward to seeing your photos in this month's competition.

Enjoy yourselves!  :)

We are half way through the month and already we have some interesting photos in the March competition "QE2 winter views" but we could do with some more photos.  Remember that we have broadened the rules to ensure we get as many entries as possible and there is a lovely prize for the winner.

Don't forget everybody that there is a PRIZE of a lovely genuine QE2 photo frame, bought on board this month!

Do we have a photo of the prize we can post on this topic get everyone suitably excited? :-)

Not bad for a free to enter competition on a free website!

Yes, here it is :

It is a walnut frame, which we received on QE2 after we had bought a sufficiently large number of photographs.

Still in its original bubble wrap with a QE2 sticker :

This is a beautiful walnut veneer frame, with a Cunard plaque and a QE2 plaque in metal at the top and bottom, respectively. The maximum picture size is about 24.5 cm x 19.5 cm. The frame itself is 3 cm wide.

The back looks like this (i.e. the picture can be either hung or stood up) :

Thanks to Isabelle we have a really special prize for the winner of the March photo competition.  This photo frame, bought onboard QE2 is a real treasure.  Maybe you have photos that fits the criteria of having been taken in the winter months (Nov to March) or a Christmas scene onboard the ship, and could be lucky winner of this prize.

Photo Competition : World Cruises and Dry Docking?
It would be great to see a few more World Cruise photos entered for the March competition!

As the world cruises always took place during the Northern Hemisphere winter months, they are all eligible. Any views of QE2 or from QE2, and also any interior pictures showing a seasonal element (e.g. Christmas decorations, St Patrick's Day celebrations) taken during a world cruise would be wonderful additions to the competition.

Dry docking pictures are most probably also Winter Views, as the dry docking so often took place during the months we have defined as "winter" (i.e. November to March, incl.).

We have 18 pictures entered so far, but there must be plenty more around! Looking forward to seeing some of them here :) .
