Hi Everybody,

Still a work in progress, much labelling and organising needed, and more pics to come, but my flickr is at last online and ready for its first views!

https://www.flickr.com/photos/16116486@N06/sets/72157614303254803/

Mostly a bit random, shots of obscure details of the ship, theres model building one day to be done!

Cheers  8)

Excellent pages, Andy! Lovingly observed, with a great eye to detail. Thank you for a wonderful walk round QE2.

Lovely pictures, Andy. There's a certain artistic quality about those pictures.

Those are invaluable, Andy! At least for me... it is a period from which I have seen very few pictures indeed...

And they answer one of those lingering questions... whether the theatre was completely unchanged since the beginning? The seats are so different in these photos -- so they must have been changed at least once in the lifetime of QE2!

Thank you for a great find  :)

Nice one Andy2

Lots of 'compare & contrast' with the later version I came to know and love  :'(
I have to say I much prefer the older version of the Grand Lounge with it's sweeping staircase - it was a public area that I felt just didn't 'work' effectively as a show lounge in later years and subsequently never really spent that much there.
It was not aesthetically pleasing to me and upset my delicate sensitivity!

Have also realised I never ever poked my head insided the Kiddies Club Room - but think that is for other reasons instead!

I think I've posted a comment and a link to the forum on the comments part - well, I tried but it hasn't appeared yet  ???
Will check back on it later I think.

Fascinating photos
Not sure I could have relaxed in the Liquorice allsorts Theatre Chairs though

Nice touch that the 12 year old got the tour after writing to the Cunard Chief.

Excellent photos - thanks for posting Kev.  Am so ignorant didn't even know there was a Columbia Restaurant - which restaurant was this?  Very poignant to end with webcam.

Hi Gill
They are great aren't they-got Andy to thank for these. The Columbia was one of the original restaurants De-Luxe on QD?Think it became Caronia with some square footage mods etc in the 94 refit but someone else may be able to confirm.

Great find Andy!  Amazing to see how original she was right up to her big refit in 86/7.  I hadn't realised the midships lobby was intact so late on.

The magradome looks exactly as I recall it - with those green & torquiose seats!

It was cool inside it, but not outside it...

Queens Room looks amazing - a design classic ruined forever in 1987, just before it would have started to get appreciated.  Ditto for the Grand Lounge, although in my view the 87 redesign wasn't too bad, it was the one after that that really spoiled it.

The original funnel - with its casing looking like a giant red sail (which is what it was meant to look like when white...)

Great shot Rob.  Btw Kev, do you recall mentioning in a previous thread about the picture of the young Lightbody playing the roulette wheel?  While that was taken in his Stateroom, this was obviously out on his private deck...lol!
