I love the black and white photo which as you say it adds to the effect.

'QE2 Celebration' - a collection of stills found online
Thanks to Lozzy100
QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for what seemed like ages...Please don't leave her looking more like a Hotel-with-a-Hull than the greatest Liner afloat - Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

A triumphant entrance to Dubai.  Lets hope they continue to look after her and value what they have bought.

I just had the bright idea of searching Getty Images... :)

http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=2&language=en-GB&family=creative&assetType=image&p=qe2#

And you get slightly different results if you search by the full name:

http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=2&language=en-GB&family=creative&assetType=image&p=queen+elizabeth+2#

Quite a few in there of QE and QM and so on as well.

I entirely agree, Rob!

Her two sets of QE2 (containing some repetition) are wonderful. Madame Ginette (Odile Meylan) deserves to be called a photographer :

The photographer has a good eye for taking an unusual photo.

Some of the photos are quite amusing but most of all the photos do represent life on the QE2.  The people, sleeping on the chairs, or enjoying eating cake on deck, rainy days and windy days, the deck crew working at night.

I love these! I find the pictures of people on QE2 interesting. Like watching out on deck at the horizon or reading a book. It shows what a cruise on QE2 was like and I can imagine what its like. I regret not going on her but I nearly had chance!

Loads of pictures here from before launch right up to final voyage. As to the very last picture--would YOU stay on the re-furbished QE2?

An interesting site containing photographs of the launch and interiors of Queen Mary, Q4's plans and her 'planners' - including Sir John Brocklebank and Dan Wallace  (Page 2 - on the right and further down), her launch as QE2 - and lots more Cunardia besides;
including on page 3, the lovely large panel in Queen Mary's dining room that is copied almost identically on board QM2.
(image 202 of 251)
There are also several photos of Cunard's Munition Works 1914-18
http://www.superstock.com/search/Cunard

(Mods - not too sure as to where this 'mix' really belongs -
hopefully it's not duplicated elsewhere here)

Found some awesome photos just now here

https://www.flickr.com/photos/justinkrugerpark/tags/qe2/

Which really make me homesick for QE2 - especially when I see those lovely enclosed promenades with the big windows.  I think that, possibly, is the biggest single difference between her interior and that of the 3 new ships, and something that really made her special.

tempting to add - and me too!
Curious to note that there's no orange-red tender on the stbd/ windward side...or is there?
and the others - are they in situ?
No lines. no gangway, no open shell doors...

(last year we'd thought seriously about driving down to Milford again,
then there were the devastating 'quakes in ChCh.
Very, very sadly the only thing we didn't miss were the sandflies! ;) )
