QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for what seemed like ages...Please don't leave her looking more like a Hotel-with-a-Hull than the greatest Liner afloat - Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

Good photos, Rosie.

Pity they found the cabin disappointing... but as far as I can see, this was a Mauretania inside cabin, and as such I find it really nice... all the original furniture is there... but they probably found that a bit old-fashioned.

Perhaps, as Rob said somewhere, many of the passengers did not know the range of cabins on board and the fact that the extra one could pay really did (in most cases!) provide an extra in terms of luxury and space.

When I had a Mauretania cabin last summer, the only things I missed, in comparison to the others, were the Cunard slippers and the bathrobe...

That is a nice shot!  Looks like she is aground but then you start to think about how sharp the drop off is on those fjords.  I was on an aircraft carrier around Norway and in the fjords in the late 80's.  It was one wierd sight flying around seeing that big a ship in waters surrounded by mountains.  The Northern Lights was a pretty good show as well.

QE2 Amarillo - Classic
Hi,

I don't think that this has been posted on hear before as I can't find it, but apologies if it has - Rob feel free to delete!

I know for the UK based members of the board the tune that accompanies these videos may be one that is annoying to hear again as it was totally over played when in the charts a couple of years ago!

But, what a record of the different crew members that we all knew and grew to treat as family - it's also great to see the behind the scenes team as well, fingers crossed it won't be too long before the prop shaft is turning in anger again.

The second video is the outakes and is very very funny, I'll say no more

Hope this has worked and you all enjoy, I certainly have over the last 2 years - it's my weekly QE2 fix at the moment

Flickr has now created the possibility for Flickr members to create galleries of other people's photos :

https://www.flickr.com/help/galleries/#938178

This is quite new, and my first photo for a gallery was selected yesterday.

Just to show how it works :

https://www.flickr.com/photos/bartvandenhoven/galleries/72157622275027985

It would be fun for the Flickr members among us to create a whole lot of specific QE2 galleries with the photos piling up in random order in our favourites! Each gallery can only have 18 photos, which we can exhibit with our own comments -- so they would be displayed very beautifully indeed, and the owners might even be pleased to contribute their pictures to the gallery in question.

I finally put my videos on YouTube (not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be!) - the quality is not very good as I only have a Flip camera - but a great memory for my family that I captured on film!

This is a cult video at my house.  At least it gives my kids an appreciation fot the ship their dad was on.  I like all the misnomers thoughout (QE2's ballroom - theater, wood paneling very 1970's - installed well after the 70's, Captain's table - Midship's Lobby) but yet, in an inebriated state, he knows that he is passing from port to starboard in the theater.

"Hello, I've just come from the casino..."

Too funny!  I didn't think he would be able to get the cabin door open at the end - then he starts barking at the person in the cabin!

Hello,

I was finally was able to take a voyage on QE2 in July 2008 on a trip to Norway after wanting to take a voyage since I was 6 years old. Unfortunately during the trip our camera started giving problems and we were not able to take many interior pictures. Would anyone who was on QE2 on this voyage or on QE2 around this time be willing to email me some pictures of the iconic rooms to: slav@live.co.za as I would like to include them in our album.

Many thanks

Just had another look at this -- it reminds me so much of my own late-night wanderings round the QE2, and is a great way for us now to see some of those public rooms and stairways in context again... and I really enjoyed his ramblings...  ;D

I wanted to say that when I first saw it but thought other members would have thought I was a little crazy!  I can remember going back to my cabin after being out at night - the combination of "celebrating" and the very rough seas made for an interesting trip!  And I didn't sleep at all on my last night - I just spent the entire night exploring the entire ship (ending up with a cup of tea on the bridge!) - great fun and I truly wish I could do it again!

This video is always good for a chuckle!
