Hi
I've just phoned him and told him that he should have had confirmation. It's strange that you should only have received his email this morning! Should he now go to the get together page  and register his name for th onboard Qv visit?

Hello, I am sure Rob will advise as regard the Queen Victoria visit.  Initially it would be good if your friend could introduce himself and hopefully enjoy the forum especially as it looks like he has a love for cruise liners and will be able to contribute to lots of topics.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hello, I'm Adrian Friar, and would love the chance to have a place on the ON-BOARD visit, I have been to see all the current sailing Cunard vessels as and when they are at the Cruiseliner Terminal on the River Mersey. Also looking forward to the historical event of all 3 vessels being on the Mersey next year for Cunards Anniversary events in Liverpool. Will share my photos of the ships soon. Many thanks for consideration.

Interesting... I had a short e-mail outage a couple of nights ago; it could be that the storms are causing losses of power to some of the servers ( both the ISP / and main internet servers ) resulting in backlogs of mails in the system as web traffic gets sent through a smaller number of servers until power is restored.

The weather is quite good for messing with technology, like Sky or radio, or powerlines.

Rob, Yes please a place for the Saturday visit to QV.  I can definitely be in Liverpool for that day.  I will have to come home on Sunday afternoon as I have a dental appointment on the Monday morning.

Will be happy to give my Passport details when necessary.  Do hope I am in time.

Many thanks
Gill (Trueman)

Hi all,

This event is (a) for pre-existing members of the forum, and can be seen as a 'perk' of being a member and (b) for people with a significant interest in QE2 (which is also the only requirement for joining the forum).  The group going on board QV will be representing this QE2 forum on this basis, as this is what I discussed with Cunard to get the permission.  In the opening message on this topic I mentioned you must be known to us, but it should have really said '... already known to us'.

For that reason, I've added Gill to the attendees list, but not Adrian, although your interest is noted if there are still vacancies nearer the time.

Thanks,

- Rob

Would love to attend and as I live locally can guarantee availability for the QV reception.  Please advise via derekferguson5@gmail.com or to g 01704 834105 before Wednesday next weekas we are off to Jamaica.
Thanks
Derek

Ps My lovely Sue would love the opportunity to have an inside look at the QV

Hi Derek,

Would you be so good as to post on the relevant 'Introduce Yourself' topic, just telling us a wee bit about yourself, and your QE2 connection?  It will help us all when we meet in May.

Many thanks,

- Rob

Hi Rob

Really sorry as have few internet minutes to stretch before Sydney!
It will be great to see you and Everybody!
If there are still one or two places for lunch on board,  please may I have certainly one, and if possible, two.
We have just heard from very good QM2 friends (from Nova Scotia) doing the Round Britain voyage on board QV and I plan to be coming 'Home'(!) to see them.

Not only will Cunard be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the departure of the 'Ship Beautiful' Aquitania on her maiden voyage when Queen Victoria arrives on 30 May the company will be marking the 175 anniversary of the founding of the company on 4 May 1839 and the first overnight by a Cunard passenger ship in Liverpool since Franconia in January 1968!

It's interesting but when Franconia left in January 1968 she left on what is currently the last Liverpool to New York crossing by a Cunarder - but the company never announced that they were cancelling the service they merely announced a "suspension" to services!

That crossing went via Bermuda and returned to Southampton which means Sylvania's 30 November 1967 crossing from Liverpool direct to New York remains the last proper crossing! Sylvania returned to Southampton.

Hi Rosie. I've added your name to the list, but there's only one place left I'm afraid!  Also its not for lunch, just a wee reception with I think a drink and canapes.  Lunch will be ashore afterwards, somewhere tbc between ourselves (any suggestions anyone?).

To Rob & Everyone meeting up in Liverpool.
Suggestions for Lunch, basically anywhere in Albert Dock, there are plenty of eateries from a traditional pub lunch (The Pumphouse) you can sit inside or out, trusting that you have good weather (Fingers crossed) to one of many restaurants.  A personnel favourite was WHAT's COOKING (See Website for Menus) I say WAS as it is a long time since we lived up North
but it was always good but a little expensive compared with a pub etc..
Also you are within firing distance of the Maritime Museum, White Star Building and obviously the Waterfront & Pierhead.
Happy Hunting
Hope to see you all if other commitments allow

I'm delighted to announce that Michael Gallagher of Cunard has managed to get us a tour of the Cunard building, starting at 12.15 on the Saturday - immediately after the QV visitors come off the ship.  After that, we can head for lunch somewhere.  I'll update the introduction post to this topic to reflect the Cunard building visit.

We can support a few more people (in addition to the QV visitors) in the Cunard building tour - please let us know.  Again, they must be known to us, for example by being a forum member.
