Ah the joys of living in a country with a maritime climate! At least in the company of 9 lovely ladies my day will be brightened irrespective of whether it be rain or shine! [emoji5]?

Hello,

In an outrageously generous manner (encouraged by a need to de-clutter!) - I have a number of books/publications that I'm happy to give, for free, to those coming to the Liverpool get-together.  I won't bring any copies however, unless you indicate to me what you would like!  Sending me a personal message is probably best.

Thanks,

- Rob

1.  Janette McCutcheon's  "RMS Queen Elizabeth 2".

Getting the title of the ship wrong, doesn't bode well for the rest of this 2008 2nd edition of this book but it is chock-full of great photos, and is nice to flick through.

2.  Liners of the Clyde

A thin book with good information and nice paintings of some of the most famous liners built on the Clyde.

3.  Farewell Queen of Seas - QE2 - 40th Anniversary magazine

4.  QE2 The Final Voyage - Britain Waves Goodbye - 2008 magazine

I have updated the itinerary with the time of entertainment on the quayside at 15:30 and the Queen Victoria sail away at 16:00 noted.

The numbers for the buffet lunch have been given to the Crowne Plaza and they have mentioned that no further amendments will be accepted.

Quote
Remember to bring your passport with you for the tour of Queen Victoria.  Passports are surrendered at check in and returned to you when you disembark the ship.  No passport, no entry!!

Friday evening:
20:00 onwards meet at the Crowne Plaza Residents Lounge.  Booth for eight people reserved to give us a base.
23:00 fireworks display

Saturday:
8:30 meet in the foyer of the Crowne Plaza Hotel ready to depart for security.  We will walk from there to check in for the tour of Queen Victoria.  If you are not there at 8.30, you'll probably  be left behind!

SueonOne deck will be joining us onboard Queen Victoria at the Grand Lobby - we'll get in touch with Sue to tell her to loiter there looking for a large group of interlopers!

Tour of Cunard Building will be immediately after the Queen Victoria tour - 12:00 for one hour.

13:30 – 15:30  Buffet sandwich lunch at the Crowne Plaza Hotel

15:30 –  entertainment on quayside prior to Queen Victoria sail away at 16:00

19:30 – Dinner at Gusto Italian

Slightly off topic, but I hope to see a topic with you all telling us about it, and sharing your pictures with us.  :D

Hi Lynda

Very, very many thanks to you for all the time and energy it will have taken to make all the arrangements on our behalf.
It'll be lovely to see you, Tom and Queen Victoria and All!

One of the reasons for retaining the Tapatalk capability as those who are able can update us in (almost) real time!!

Hope you all have a great time

Nearly there - just one more day to go and I know that some of you are already making your way to Liverpool as I speak.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone who will be joining us on Friday evening at the Crowne Plaza, which will be around 12 people.  Especially looking forward to the fireworks.  How generous of Cunard to put on a fabulous fireworks display for the QE2 Story get together!  ;D

Saturday visit to Queen Victoria and again I must stress that passports are required to board Queen Victoria. It will be a busy day for us with an early start meeting in the lobby of Crowne Plaza, ready to leave at 8.30 am visiting QV, then the Cunard Building, then on to lunch at 13:30 and finishing the afternoon watching Queen Victoria  sail away.

Saturday evening will round off the week-end event with an evening meal at Gusto Italian at 19:30.  There will be an al la carte menu on offer and although this option offers the best range of choices for everyone there is the problem of how to calculate payment.  I have had several people say that they would prefer to pay only for what they eat rather than have the full bill divided by the number of people.  In order to do this we need to devise a way of everyone keeping track of what they have ordered.  Myles has a lot of experience in the hotel industry and what he has suggested of noting what you order and putting the money in the pot seems like a good idea.  Because we are a party of over 6 people there is a service charge of 10% on the bill.

Smart Casual is the dress code for Gusto Italian.

Quote from Myles:

Tell the server at the start you want seperate bills OR make a note of what you each have and put that into the cash pot, allow a little extra as they say for service  ;)

Looking forward to the week-end get together and I am sure we will have a lovely time.
