Sad news indeed, especially after the recent Ocean Countess fire. I wasn't previously aware of Cunard Adventurer, but, from this angle, she does like very much like Ocean Countess and her sister ship.

I am sad to hear this.  Dad was based in Rotterdam whilst she was being built (along with sister ship Ambassador??) and then he moved to Copenhagen where I assume they went to be fitted out (I stand corrected if that is wrong).  Once in service he was Chief Engineer on her until around 1974 I think.  As a family we were very fond of this ship and mum and I joined dad on board for a few nice trips around the Caribbean on her.

After Adventurer, Dad was based in La Spezia for the construction of Princess and Countess and then he was serving on both those ships, although mainly the Princess.

Adventurer was obviously a lot smaller than QE2 and although only a child I remember she had a fun and relaxed atmosphere on board.  I have lovely memories and very sad to hear she has reached the end of the line.  I have found some images of her we have.  The engine room one was taken in 1970 or 71 whilst in Rotterdam I think.

Jane, your dad's stint in Copenhagen was probably the building of the Princess and Countess, who were then taken to La Spezia for fitting out.

Thank you so much for the information, really appreciated - I was unsure of exactly what was going on in Rotterdam, Copenhagen and La Spezia so wonderful to get it straight and have an accurate timeline.  I love this forum!
