Fantastic write up of Waverley's western isles cruise this year, surely one of the world's great maritime adventures?

Nice photos of her.
"The QE2 is one of the last great transatlantic liners, and arguably the most famous liner in the world"

"QE2 and Concorde, a partnership that lasted almost 30 years... two stunning pieces of engineering, never to be forgotten!"

Really really disappointed at the lack of communications from them so far this year, they need to try much much harder!

Which is a shame given what they have in the ship!

The Western Isles sailings are indeed special - we did the full 10 days in 2004, 2005 & 2007 and it was amazing. Even though you cant live on board the ship kind of becomes a home to you!! Plus being able to sail to places that she was never intended to visit back in '47!

In saying that either watching or being on board when she stops London in order to sail through Tower Bridge is excellent!! This wee lump of steel, wood, brass and steam wae "Glasgow" on her stern stopping the capital in its tracks made me feel a wee bit proud!!

Very surprising that having booked on line a couple of years ago for the Tower Bridge trip we have heard nothing more. Surely a sales and fund raising opportunity squandered.

Hi Bruce,

That is unusual as in years gone by as soon as you made a booking your name automatically went onto the mailing list for the future.
Maybe the way WavEx handle the mailings has changed.

That would be a fantastic experience.  I always enjoy the sail down the Clyde on the Waverley but sailing on the Waverley on the Thames sounds amazing.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

I am following the travels of Waverley with great interest, and it is marvelous that she is kept up so well and does appear to have quite a following.
QE2 - the ship for all of time, a ship of timeless beauty !

I'm still annoyed at her operators for the complete lack of contact they're having with their former customers... But here's a photo of her taken right now (I'm out on my bike) looking marvellous.

Sailing down to Whitstable and back up to the Tower is one of life's greatest treats, Lynda; especially on a fine day- Sailing up towards Canary wharf after passing under the QEll bridge, the barrier and then under Tower Bridge at sunset is absolutely magical.
Advise cancelling all 'public engagements' and just do it!!

I see a big advert in one of yesterdays or todays papers, I only ever sailed once on her and that was for the first QE2 story gathering, But l do wonder why they cant or dont email updates to customers, l would love to sail on her again !
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,

A final wee snippet - a nice shot taken from Waverley in 2006 whilst sailing in tandem with the other PSPS owned paddler - former River Dart steamer Kingswear Castle. This was taken on the Medway where the two vessels would meet up annually while Waverley was doing her Thames season. KC is now on long term charter back on the Dart so these meetings are no longer possible.

Sailing on Waverley on the South Coast (out of Soton) or on the Thames is a very special experience and I hope she continues to sail to these places for many years to come.

But IMHO she looks at her best on her home river and second best in the Western Isles!
