Hi

My name is Stephen

I ran the casino on board in 1975and 1976 for periods of three months and two months respectively.
A great time then more of which I will tell later.

For those of you who have the video "Last of the Great Queens" I do appear in this on a few occasions.

Somewhat younger and looking a lot different now!!

I an wearing a dinner suit.( Oversize bow tie as was the fashion then) I am briefly seen entering the Captains cocktail party . Then  shots at the Blackjack and Roulette tables

Do let me know if you can spot me

All for now .

I look forward to hearing your comments

Hello Stephen and welcome to the QE2 Story.  Looking forward to hearing more about your time onboard QE2 in the 1970's and stories about working in the Casino.

We had some very interesting discussion on the Casino Girls introduction when Maggie O'Donnell told us about her memories of working in the QE2 Casino in 1981 to 1983 and shared some photos.

I do not have the "Last of the Great Queens" DVD but it is very likely that others members will have this and have a look at you dressed in "seventies" style
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Welcome to the forum, Stephen. I don't have a copy of that video, though I should try and get hold of it. I first knew the Ship in 78, and loved the way She looked then.

Hi Steve

I recognise your name... I worked for Mecca then London Clubs -- was on QE2 81-83..left London 89 then went abroad.
Great days, great memories I am sure we know a lot of the same people - are you still in the business ?

Hi Stephen and welcome.

You were there a couple of years before me but you might possibly have met my sister Christine who worked on board as a photographer '76 to '80 and might have been there for one of your stints.

Looking forward to hearing some of your tales from the early years. QE2 seems to have become a much different ship as time moved on and new owners introduced new ideas. At the time you were aboard I think she was run by Cunard from the UK and was still relatively unspoiled.

Welcome back Maggie too, I'm sure you have still got a tale or two left to tell, and it would be good to hear more from you.
Don't just be part of her past, be part of her history!

Hi Stephen

I was a photgrapher on board the QE2 in the 70's, it kick started me to visiting 71 countries, I took photos during the mid Atlantic bomb scare and during the turbine blow out off Bermuda. We drifterd for three days with no water and had to drink alcohol - it was a terrible time for some but the photgraphers rather enjoyed it. We tried to get permission for a helicopter to lift us from the deck and drop us off in Bermuda but the staff captain was a real prat and wouldn't allow us to leave.

I imagine you would have known Tim Thorne from Brighton and brothers Phil and Andy Green. There was a lovely girl named Denise who was a croupier in the Casino. I have searched for years trying to find out what happened to her. It feels like broken heart syndrome.

I live in Cheshire but I am buying a place in the sun subject to Brexit.

Best wishes for 2019 and I am on Facebook under Nick Murray from Scarborough. I don't use it very often but I do pick up my messages

Kind regards - Nick Murray
