Unfortunately, I have not been to the fitting-out basin, and I hope it's still there whenever I do get a chance to visit the UK. I'm an aficionado of all things British, and British ships have a special place in my heart. So, I'd love to visit Clydebank, as well as other shipbuilding sites such as Belfast, Tyne, Liverpool, etc...
With regard to the QE2, it would be great if a group of wealthy Britons could get together, buy the ship, and send her up to the Clyde for permanent berthing. She could be jointly owned by the UK and Scottish governments and managed by a trust run by people like Rob and others who will care for her.
As an American, I feel the same way about the SS United States. In many ways, they are the last of their kind and it would be tragedy to lose them.
