Check this out - I'd never seen it before!   ::)

I'm sad to say I can't see in 3D, due to my wonky eye, but can someone who can see in 3D, tell me if its as impressive as it looks like it should be!

Don't have any 3D glasses -- but even without, I am happy to see QE2's bow fitting beautifully into that notch created for Queen Elizabeth before her.

I don't have any 3D specs handy, but the picture is sharp enough that I can do single eyed free-view 3D viewing on it ( it'll take too long to explain how to do that here! ) and if that is anything to go by it certainly will look very good through 3D specs.

Shame, I don't have any 3D glasses to view the photo either.

Nice photo here of the QE2.

It's a shame she is not docked right there today as a monument to British shipbuilding & engineering on the Clyde.  :)

Hello Wesley, and welcome in the Forum! Have you been to see her fitting-out basin?

Yes, such a shame she cannot be there, or indeed anywhere she can be seen and enjoyed by those who love her...

Hello Isabelle! Thank you and everyone else for the warm welcome.

Unfortunately, I have not been to the fitting-out basin, and I hope it's still there whenever I do get a chance to visit the UK. I'm an aficionado of all things British, and British ships have a special place in my heart. So, I'd love to visit Clydebank, as well as other shipbuilding sites such as Belfast, Tyne, Liverpool, etc...

With regard to the QE2, it would be great if a group of wealthy Britons could get together, buy the ship, and send her up to the Clyde for permanent berthing. She could be jointly owned by the UK and Scottish governments and managed by a trust run by people like Rob and others who will care for her.

As an American, I feel the same way about the SS United States. In many ways, they are the last of their kind and it would be tragedy to lose them.

I do hope that you get the chance to visit the fitting out basin in Clydebank at some point in time.  It is sad that it is only the fitting out basin and the titan crane that remain to evidence the world renown shipbuilding that took place, but it is still good to visit and see the place where QE2 and other famous ships were fitted out.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank
