We were delighted to receive an email from John Lester with these photos of QE2, which I have placed in the Gallery album and posted here for you to enjoy. 

Thanks to forum members, like John these special photos keep the memory of QE2 alive.

Bow sections: "propellor ,ship side view - no lifeboats in Davits."


Lifeboat in Davits


Anchors: "My hard hat included to give indication of size of anchors"


Motor Life boat


Foster Wheeler ESD Boiler: "cutaway drawing.3 Boilers on ship each producing 300,000 pounds of high pressure steam/hour,total ,900,000 lbs/her"


Bow section: "taken because it is only one I have seen to include JOHN BROWN name!" 


"Umbilicals " carrying steam ,water ,various gases etc from shore to ship
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hi John -

Thank you very much for sharing with us here the magnificent build photos of our QE2.  They are spectacular and will add to the continuing build up of primary source material about QE2.  The bow photo showing the John Brown Engineering sign is just marvelous !

I have to admit that the design of the original Steam turbine screws look impressive and powerful.

Wonderful photos! So glad they were taken, printed, preserved, kept safe and found again to bring here! Thank you, John :) .

The lifeboats look very much like those I knew during QE2's final decade. Are they really the very same ones?

Wow, brilliant, so glad they came here, no favourites, they are all brilliant & her history, the umbilicals remind me so much of my years in Vickers when ships were being fitted out.Thank you, John Lester  , a good distraction of what is happening to her now!!
