This Month's Theme is "QE2 : The Bit beneath the Bridge".  Stowaway2k, the winner of the January competition, chose this topic for April 2013.  Entries could be pictures either of the Bit beneath the Bridge itself (the forward outlook deck underneath the Bridge), or they could be views taken from that position.

The album is open now, so now is the time to look at the pictures already there and to find your best three photos to upload and enter : https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=93

The prize for the lucky winner is a copy of the Southampton Daily Echo glossy souvenir supplement about QE2's 40th Anniversary, donated by Cunard.  This publication was produced by the Southampton Daily Echo to celebrate QE2's 40 years service. It is full of beautiful pictures, many interesting facts and snippets covering the history of the ship.  See more details of the prize here : https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php/topic,4480.0.html

The deadline for submitting photos is 30 April 2013. Voting will run from 1 May 2013 until 31 May 2013.

We look forward to seeing your photos for this month's competition.

Thank you and good luck!

It is good to see the collection of photos that have been added to the Photo Competition Gallery.  I am sure that the bit beneath the bridge was a favourite place for many people so hope there are lots more photos to be uploaded to the competition.   :)
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hello!
I am very interested in entering April's Photo of the Month Competition, but I am unsure if my photographs would count as they were taken INSIDE the Officer's Ward Room - which was two decks immediately below the bridge and one deck immediately below the "bit beneath the bridge".
I await your reply with interest.

Hello Clydebuilt2,

It's good to meet you alongside! Thank you for your thoughts regarding the whereabouts of 'The Bit Beneath The Bridge'
The subject was chosen by Stowaway2k, and as you will see above, Isabelle explains a little more regarding the guidelines. Hopefully I might be excused for barging in!

Perhaps I should come clean, as the expression has a bit of history. It was first used when Rob invited me onto the forum (January 2009!). At the time, I didn't know that my 'Bit Beneath the Bridge' had a proper name!
The Observation Deck seemed such a formal name for the place that I ( and other forum members) had staked out, often from before dawn till after dusk..the very best place for watching Everything, it was - I still miss it dreadfully!
It will be great to see your photos of The Wardie, please do post them, either in the Wardroom topic,
https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php/topic,2162.msg53361.html#msg53361
or in the Gallery,
and if they are photos of or from the Bit Beneath the Bridge' then why not post them on this topic too!

Best wishes - and good luck!
Rosie

Hello Christopher,

It looks to me like you probably have some wonderful photos there, which we would very much enjoy seeing, particularly those of us who rarely or never had the chance to venture inside the Wardroom.

I suggest that you might like to upload them to the Gallery, under the heading "Interiors -- Officer and Crew Areas", here :

https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=19

We can enjoy them there, quite independently of the photo competition, and if a theme comes up in future months that would suit them, they will already be there to be entered.
