QE2 - Our Summer Gathering - Five years on.
« on: Feb 23, 2013, 07:11 PM »
Hello there, Rob

Is it too early to ask - have you plans, or are there coincidental other events for either of the last two weekend in July?
I haven't had a chance to look at Waverley's sailings, however it's been such a treat in the past, hopefully you and everyone who can manage might come and enjoy the Clyde too.

Do you know if she goes to Tighnabruaich on either Saturday 20th or 27th July? It looks like she might.
I know HS is up there then, I'm pretty certain that she's hoping to come.

Hoping that you aren't just a wee bit chilly!
Minus 6C here last night, minus 31C and falling in Antarctica!

I'm hoping to combine our gathering this year with the Waverley gang, like we did the first year, to boost numbers! I've asked Helen to suggest a suitable date.

I am aiming to be back in Glasgow for late June early July. I'm home to celebrate one of those pesky birthday milestones. From a purely selfish perspective Saturday June 29th would be a good date for me 8)

Regarding the heading though, the forum's only four years old!

Sent from my phone so apologies if it's brief!

Ah -  the heading, Rob. This does begin with QE2!
In July, it'll be over five years since her final worldie, nearly five years since QE2 sailed away from the English Channel, the Irish Sea, the River Clyde, The Mersey and the Bay of Biscay, The North Atlantic - and the rest of the flipping world!  And - won't it be nearly five years since the beginning of the gestation period of the Forum?
And very many more since The QE2 Story first began... :)
In fact, a party for The QE2 Story must be well overdue. ;)

Ah OK Rosie! I thought you were saying it was five years since our first summer gathering!

I'd be reluctant to try to do it again exactly like last year because so few people turned up (even though I very much enjoyed it anyway).

It would be great if someone could volunteer to coordinate a South event too, preferably on the Waverley with something afterwards somewhere if possible?
