Ocean Liners models
« on: May 11, 2009, 03:09 PM »
I ain't good at uploading pictures but my Dads mate will try and upload some pictures of my Luxary Liner fleet.  Of course there is QE2 at the moment is flagship of my fleet. She has been painted in various schemes like QE2 in real life. Now she is sporting  paint scheme like QE2 had in the late 90's with the long red band on her superstructure. Also theres Queen Mary, Olympic, Titanic, Mauretania, Lusitania, Oceanic, Queen Mary 2, Britannic, O.J and Oceanic (3). The newest is Queen Mary 2 she was brought in early 2007.

The model QE2 first joined in mid 2004 and became flagship in late 2007 when the old Titanic was showing age. In early 2008 QE2 was updated from her 60s paint scheme to an early 90s paint scheme and the flagship role was given to Queen Mary. In March QE2 re-entered service with features from the early 90s. She sailed on a specially made pond with Queen Mary, Olympic and Mauretania to celebrate Mauretania's 100th birthday. In late 2008 she went for another paint scheme in her mid/late 90s guise then last month her funnel was given a new surrounding plate as the old one was made cleverly by blue tac and was being to crack now the new one is the same as the old one and is made of card while the black part is made from stronger blue tac. Some benches have been made out of plastercene and in dedication to the real QE2 she has a long flag on her mast representing the real QE2's working life.
This weekend she is having new CUNARD lettering on her superstructure in a richer red.

I am really experimental with these models now i have 2 that have retired.
I'll show you some pictures soon.

I've just made a decision to retire Britannic a sister of Olympic and Titanic. But i wouldn't mind having a replacement ship but a sister to QE2.

But i can't think of a name. Anyone got any idea's?

If you are painting your model in the Project Lifestyle colour scheme don't forget to move the Cunard Lettering forward - see photo below for example.

Nice one Chris!  I'll pinch that for my Image upload instructions page here - https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php/topic,425.msg4554.html#msg4554 - if you don't mind!

Hi everyone. Just to inform you that the QE2 model has just had work done on her bridge and the bridge recieved a new paint job. You know the front end wear her Cunard badge is the old one had been ripped off because it was overlapping the front superstructure and it ruined QE2s clean lines  and now sports a new carved one which was made from blu tac and is now painted white with the Cunard badge back in the middle.

Heres a picture to show what i'm talking about.

<inactive link removed>

On picture A the front was overlapping (the black line representing it) as you can see on the example picture. On Image B shows how the real QE2's front is like where its clear and thats what the model QE2 is like now.
(By the way Image is from my personal collection)

With the QE2's sister ship (i know the name but i ain't giving anything away but i can only say its a traditional Cunard name) ordered another which will be made but will be a bit different. The name is going to be Marilyn yes its dedicated to Marilyn Monroe.

The new Cunard sister will sport the same funnel as QE2 and same paint scheme but there will be a few differences distinguishing her from QE2 is her front superstructure and deck plans.

The other new ship will have a Marilyn Monroe drawing on her hull with a gold funnel and will have CUNARD painted on the superstructure, theres going to be four swimming pools and one final feature will be a new deck which will be by the funnel.

Very nice photograph; I have to ask - is that at Southampton?  Looks like Hythe Pier at the top left of the picture?

Hi Peter. Yes I think thats the hythe pier.
My QE2 is recieving another refit. She will be painted to how she looked when she left Southampton last year. The red stripes have been taken down and restored along with the nameplates and Cunard lettering. She will recieve a new paint job in the afternoon.
The penthouses have been replaced with new ones made out of blu tac as the old ones were collapsing and looked tired. They look more like QE2's ones to what they did before.

QE2 is completed. She's just had her funnel polished and is now ready.

I've decided to make a new ship model. But this ship is a sister to Queen Mary 2. There are many modifications made on the exterior. These modification ideas came from QE2, original Queen Mary, Aquitania and Titanic. The top middle part of the ship is all joined in creating the same thing the old liners had. A name hasn't been decided yet but she won't carry the Queen name. A Cunarder name will be revived.

Here she is.

Can we see some Pics of your newly modified QE2? That would be great!

I Like the new idea too! Except it probably looks a little too similar at the moment for making it a worth while reality, But thats just my opinion!

Please Dis regard spelling mistakes, its late and im tired! Hahaha!

Matt

I'll try. I'm not good on computers but i'll give it a go. The model QE2 is very easy to update.

Heres a more bigger version of the new ship. This ship model will be abit smaller than QE2 and QM2.
