Photo of the month competition - instructions on how to vote for your favourite photo

The theme of the November competition was "Parties onboard QE2" which showed the fun side of QE2.

Forum members can vote for their favorite photo(s).  Each member has 3 votes (but please do not vote for your own photo). Voting is open to all members regardless of whether or not you submitted a photo.

To make it easier for you we have posted the photos below.

But you can also view the photos submitted by members in the Gallery - where you will probably get a better view of the photos and where you can see them all at once, in thumbnail form. You can then click on the pictures shown, and click again, to see them in large size.

Click on the Gallery button from the forum or click on this link :

https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=77

Choose up to three photos you want to vote for, noting photo details, then tick the relevant boxes on the voting poll.

You will not see the results until the voting has closed on 31 December 2012 (closing time for your time zone is indicated at the bottom of the poll), after which the winner will be announced.

Good luck everyone who entered photos and thank you to everyone for voting!

QE2 seemed to be full of parties -- there was always something festive going on.

Maybe not that many of us gave parties ourselves (or were invited to them) in private cabins... But I have lasting memories of the Captains' receptions, with formal photos taken before and while being presented to him... And then, there were the slightly smaller parties, and the special buffets, and the special afternoon teas... and of course the various balls! This great photo collection brings back so many memories -- and even more...

Thank you, Myles, for the theme :) .

Not a lot of votes, only 9 so far, for November photos.  I know everyone is busy with Christmas coming up but it would be good to get a few more votes.

Could someone please explain to me why 16 people thought that a picture of the stern of a ship fills the Category of 'Parties on board the QE2 ?

Offline Twynkle

Hey Mr Ballantyne - not too sure what the explanation can be, other than:-
the best parties were very much on her stern!
Sail-away with Bubbly - isn't that a party?
Happened every time!
Happy New Year

You must be joking Fraser. As Rosie says there were some brilliant parties down aft, not to mention the "Crossing the Line" ceremony - one of the wackiest but extremely fun parties that any vessel holds. Then there were the crew parties 2 deck aft. :)))

I agree with the responses above. Each entrant is free to interpret the theme as they see fit with the photos they have.  Each voter can apply the same thought process to decide which they think is best.

It's just a bit of fun.

Hi Fraser, I am proud to admit that I am one of the guilty 16 voters. I chose this photo for a variety of reasons: the most important one as others have said was because that's where I remember all the best Sailaway parties and (although you can't see it) the stern is also where my favourite bar The Yacht Club is situated-had to be dragged out regularly after 2pm etc.
However on looking at the photo again in light of your question, even more reasons spring to mind for example the photo shows a lot of people enjoying themselves on the stern decks which have to be one of the many spectacular design features that combine to make the QE2's profile so appealing and so different from so many of the current ship designs where such large get togethers are jus not possible. I could go on and on and on.............

Hi Everyone,
I agree that some of the best parties on board were at the Funnel Bar and the Yacht Club etc. but I just thought that from a photographic point of view you just didn't SEE the party.      Sorry if I annoyed anyone but if the subject was 'Door knobs' I would like to see the actual Door knob !
Regards to all.

Fraser Ballantyne.

Hey, Mr Ballantyne
Happy New Year - btw!
If you win the competition - you might choose the subject of Door Knobs
QE2 had some magnificent door handles!

and a quick run around and you'll find even more!

and not forgetting Isabelle's intriguing pictures of the steward's little piece of paper showing whether or not the passengers were 'in', if so - these were stuck inside the cabin door-knobs :-)
A Cunard 'habit' still deployed to this day!

Hi Fraser,
what was wrong with this picture? Only the title! Just sailaway!
Please don't you worry. Happy New Year!

Congratulations to the winner.
