I agree with Ali -- what a disappointment when only one choice was possible 
Perhaps the thing to do is to vote early and often 

For me, daytime and night time would be quite different...

There are some more (potentially) favourite places too... and maybe we can find still more...

-- the promenade outside the bookshop / library / cruise sales office,
-- the promenade by the tours and excursions office,
-- the promenade by the jigsaw table,
-- the shopping promenade above the Grand Lounge,
-- the games tables between the Theatre and the Crystal Bar,
-- (dare I mention it?) the Fine Arts Auction exhibition area, recently on the promenade near the Lido,
-- the Midships Lobby,
-- the Computer Learning Centre,
-- the Lido,
-- the Queen's Grill Lounge,
-- the stairways,

and those I hardly knew at all...

-- the gym,
-- the indoor swimming pool,
-- the spa (although I have wonderful memories of it!),

... and then we move on to the outdoor public spaces!

So many beautiful spaces... it is lovely to bring them back to mind like this... What a well chosen first vote, Rob!

I agree with everyone - Good question - and really, really difficult to answer!

Day, night, different times of the day / night, inside, outside, not to mention 'State Rooms', bits of decks, so please can we call one 'best bit' a room? - the bit below the Bridge?

And on from there - instead of being a Lido Diner, please may I be a 'Beneath the Bridge' person instead?!!

My vote goes to the GL as I thought I'd lend my support to the underdog.  However, should anyone be passing around 5ish, I can usually be found sitting quietly in the corner gazing out over the open ocean while nursing my Guiness and having a smoke!

We loved the Golden Lion for the World Cup matches -- the atmosphere was huge! The provided crisps were devoured at top speed, as we shouted, cheered and enjoyed looking at the spectators at least as much as at the footballers

Naturally. and the only time I have ever had REAL cavier, and grouse, and all sorts of other nice food usually not available in the lkocal supermarket (altho I can get venison sausages)

 Yacht Club          Great for the late night drinking and the 5 pm gatherings
 Chart Room         alway a bit busy  l found,but nice late at night
 Library/Bookshop  great range of souvenirs, decent ones !! and Carmel what a great host
 Queens Room      Oh my god the afternoon teas
 Golden Lion          Hated the place
 Grand Lounge       Nice but the Double room was nicer
 PG Champagne Bar only been there twice, once for a Dorothy party and a very private party
 Crystal Bar           Great!! Loved it and warm Canopes and Leo...
 Pavillion               the cheese burgers. minute steaks and not forgetting Bobby
 Funnel Bar           Hardly went there ever, but would have killed for the clock
 Theatre/Cinema   Great if you can stay awake
 Casino                 Im not much of a gambler, but Warwick the waiter...l could place my bets on him
 Synagogue          lovely and cool, and if you time it right the wine is free

Chart Room favourite public room, but Boat Deck favourite area (of course!)

The Chart room to me was the place to be, i used to love to go for a pre dinner cocktail ( or 3!) and retire there for a late night drink before turning in for the night. We had a wonderful waiter called Dave ( sorry i dont know his surname) on our cruise to the far North of Norway in June last year - my wife would make a suggestion of a flavour or spirit she fancied and he would produce some fantastic cocktails - many not on the list - a wonderful example of the superb staff on board.
Obviously being on the boat deck or the front observation platform early on a sunny morning when you were sailing into a new port of call or had yet another fantastic sea day to look forward to.

May I plead a case (again) for the Bit Beneath the Bridge to be on it?
It was the very best place to be
Come raging gales, rain, midnight sun, round the clock and often out of bounds
Early, late and in-between times...
Reminded me of an old romantic black and white film location
I learnt so much there...about heaving and weighing the anchor!!

Just voted a year after posting.  My favorite public room was the Lookout Bar followed closely by the original Double Down Room. Neither is a poll choice.

My favourite indoor public room was the Queen's room but I have to agree with Rosie.... the "Bit Beneath the Bridge", the observation area out front which was very often out of bounds... I would like to just stand there, dead centre, right behind the big crest, look out over her bow and then peek up at the bridge and just say to myself... Yup... this is MY SHIP!!!

As you know, along with the Forum itself, this was the first poll here ,
taking place  when the membership was less than about 30!

Wouldn't it be good to know more about where people enjoyed being on board QE2?
and - it's a fair bit easier than Bob's 'What's your best Queen' poll too!

As Bob C says what about the places of yesteryear.. the Golden Lion is hideous, But the theatre bar was far better
And the Grand Lounge or the Double Room, there really is no comparison on that one....
Heck even 4 and 5 deck do we like the wooden effect or the plain white walls...
Even if folks want to add what they liked or didnt like about the various room, then again l suppose we could have a topic for each and every room/lounge and start from there.. 

In fact Rosie on that point, perhaps we should go back to the early posts and start again with so many new members, Its actually quite refreshing to visit old topics

I feel I must weigh in here and speak up for the forgotten Midships bar. It's small size, little booths and dark green leather
and velvet finishes made it seem the epitome of chic sophistication that was the early QE2.

As a 12/13 year old there was another reason to love the place. If I asked for a shandy in any other bar onboard the barman
would put a splash of beer in a tall glass and fill it up with lemonade. In the Midships I would be given a tall glass half full of
lemonade with a bottle of "probably the best lager in the world" on the side. Then I' simply neck the lemonade, pour myself
a beer and sit getting gently wasted like the rest of the grown-ups.

The Midships Bar was a very cosy place liked by many and of course the old Yacht Club with is waving ceiling and glass piano.

As noted above - this was the very first poll on the Forum and 850+ members have joined since those early days.

Louis, Rod, and all Crew Members - did the Crew have favourite (as well as least favourite) rooms used by passengers Guests?
Secretly, I'd hoped the wash-rooms could be listed here - they were the cleanest of all!
