How fantastic, gandbperkins!
and Hello!
Thank you very much indeed for the advance notice and information.
Sounds as if your book could be a great tribute to QE2.

Purely out of personal curiosity, please may I tentatively ask - Were you aware of The QE2 Story Forum
as you were getting ready for the proof-reading stage?

What a wonderful opportunity, after much work on literary projects and lecturing, to enjoy a World Cruise twice over, and on the finest liner, then to write and publish your experience. Congratulations!
It's great that you have found us!
QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

No, we were not aware of this forum until after we had finished the book, and then we learned about it from a friend who is also a QE2 enthusiast. If you would like to know more about it and us you can try http://www.georgeperkins.net, where we have posted some chapter excerpts.

Hello George and Barbara,

Nice to read about your book again.

Could you please let us know a bit more more why you found QE2 so special that you wanted to create a book about her? We would all appreciate that. And it would be good if you told us some more about the book itself and its contents.

Could you let the QE2Story moderating team have a copy so that we could write a review?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

There are actually two books: AROUND THE WORLD ON THE QE2, volume I; China  to England, and AROUND THE WORLD ON THE QE2,  volume 2, New York to Australia. They are large format paperbacks (8 1/2 X 11 inches), about 125 pages each, profusely illustrated, with a combined total of perhaps 100 color photos taken on the voyages, which were one or both listed as final voyages before the sale to Dubai. We think that people who care about the QE2 will find them very interesting. As far as we know, there is nothing else like them.

Unfortunately, they are published as print on demand books by Lulu.com. We have no extra copies and they cannot be found in bookstores. Try the site connection we sent before, or simply Google George and Barbara Perkins, Lulu.com and the book titles.

Thanks for asking.
