BBC seeking 1967 QE2 workers
« on: Sep 12, 2012, 02:00 PM »
The BBC (for Radio 4 no less) are seeking to interview someone who was working on QE2 when she was launched in 1967. This is no doubt because the 45th anniversary of the launch is coming up.

Do you know someone they can speak to?  Reply to this topic so we can put you in touch! Better be quick though!

Hello Rob,

I am contacting you in response to your quest to find those involved in building the QE2 at Clydebank. Although I was at the launch through a friend having a family member on the Board, and he got me a ticket - my family had moved away from John Brown's to work at Yarrows by that time.  However, I am going to contact family to see if they can find someone who can help you.

In the meantime have you considered contacting the following to help you?

The Clydebank Post
1st Floor,
Carus House,
201 Dumbarton Road,
Clydebank G81 4XJ

Tel: 0141 435 8888

They do have a website http://www.clydebankpost.co.uk/ which may be of help.

Kind regards
Helen Aiken

Helen Helen,

Great ideas.  We're doing everything we can think of, and we have contacted the Clydebank Post, and they are hopeful of finding someone.

We're running out of time now though :(

I'm afraid that John, the worker who was in my story, has passed away.
