Greetings from Portugal
« on: Jun 13, 2012, 02:23 PM »
Hi everyone,

My name is Francisco and I'm from Portugal.

I've been building scale models in my spare time for about 15 years, an activity from which I take great pleasure. At this time, I'm building a 1/2000 (1/2500?) scale model of the QE2. She's beautiful and reading her history has been fascinating. I'm now studying photographs in order to replicate the paint scheme properly.

Thank you,

Francisco

Hello Francisco and welcome to the Forum.

I hope you can share with members photos at various stages as  you build the QE2 model.  I am sure everyone would be interested to see the progress of your work.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Hi Francisco,  Welcome to the QE2 Forum. You will meet many many people who have worked on or been passengers on the lovely Queen Elizabeth 2. Take your time and have a good look around. There is pleanty to keep you interested in for a long time. I am also a model maker and am at the moment building a model of the QE2. It is the Gunze-Sanyo model in 1/450 scale. I am fitting it with lights and Fibre Optic cables. I hope to have it ready to show to the good people on the Forum later this year. Myself and no doubt many others would love to see photo's of your model and maybe some descriptions of how you do the build. Above all else--ENJOY YOURSELF. :)

Thank you for the warm welcome, I hope to make justice to the beauty of this ship, even if in such a small scale.

So far, it is looking like this:

And please excuse my less than perfect english.

I'm sorry for the late response, I read it at the time but didn't answer immediately and ended up forgetting..

It's a plastic model indeed and I've started to paint it. At this point there is only minor shading done, as my air compressor decided to stop working properly in the middle of the session. An overall white coat will follow, then the dark blue and red on the bow. The details will be brush painted afterwards.

Thank you,
Francisco
