Now sailing with a nuclear sub for company! Not sure if you'll see it in this photo. The strong winds are making this the most exhilarating trip I've ever had on Waverley.

Entirely agree.

Thank you so much, Rob, for keeping those of us who stayed behind, feeling as though we were almost there with you. Looks like a fabulous day out!

Great fun at the get together last night and a fine send off on thWaverley this morning. Sailing 'Doon the Water' were Rob, Dave, Lynda & Tom and Rosie. We, provided the shore-side entertainment on departure waving them off in fine Cunarder style!

I had a very lovely time this weekend, and am a bit exhausted now!  Our weather yesterday was superb (considering how it has been) and I have a sun-burnt head!  A real highlight for me was when she was rocking and rolling on some heavy swells in very strong winds, which she handled brilliantly!

Unfortunately we did not reach our ultimate destination for the day - Tighnabruaich - because of the weather conditions making the passage through the narrow Kyles too risky I think - so the last bit we ended up going around on big circles I think!  The ship was very quiet for a Saturday because of the way the weather has been last week - people obviously didn't plan to spend Saturday on her because they anticipated bad weather.

If you're reading this topic thinking how you'd have liked to be there, but found it impossible to get to Glasgow (Which is understandable!) then please consider organising your own get-together, which we can help promote together on the forum, to help keep the memory of QE2 alive.

We have just returned home from the week-end Forum gathering in Glasgow and on the Waverley.

Enjoyed sharing memories and looking at memorabilia on Friday evening over a drink.  The trip on the Waverley on Saturday was most enjoyable. It is amazing how easy it is to spend ten hours onboard this small ship and not be bored for one minute.  Even the change of itinary around the Isle of Cumbrae and along the West Coast instead of going to Tighnabruaich was an interesting detour.

It was a small gathering of Forum members but we certainly enjoyed meeting up with everyone who attended.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Seabourndt:  My father was on the maiden eastbound of the 1938 Nieu Amsterday and returned on the Normandie.  Hated the Normandie and loved the Nieu Amsterday.  BTW: he told me the best place on Nieu Amsterdam to sneak Tourist girls up to First Class for social events was through the infirmary.  I told Bill Miller that once and he occasionally uses it in his lectures.

Great to meet you on Friday Dave, I'm glad you enjoyed the Waverley, she's a great wee ship. A visit to the Riverside museum is a must, there's quite a lot about the ships and the trains are good too.
Hope to see you again, maybe next year at our reunion. Cheers,  John.
