The QE2 Story on board QE2
« on: Jul 02, 2012, 01:14 PM »
The possibility of a QE2 get together on board the great vessel now seems a little closer, albeit in a few years time. I'm up for it, anyone else? List started!  :)

I'll be there!

I look forward to sharing a drink in the Chart Room with QE2 friends who I have never been aboard QE2 with.

January 2014 might be a date to aim for... or we could link it to the date that QM2 will be in port during her 2014 WC.

Fingers crossed it comes true this time...

Good thinking, Cunarder Man - nothing like the Scouting Motto, 'Be Prepared', is there?!
Given that there are Very Nearly 900 members on the Forum,
maybe we could make a few alternative enquiries - like chartering a wee ship....  :)
There's Saga Ruby, or the Adonia even - and although PS Waverley was steady as a rock in the rough water last weekend, she might struggle a bit between bunker stations!  I'd even travel out in a tug, or a barge!
Otherwise if push came to shove - after a flight on the classy Emirates Airlines out, QM2 could bring us home - she was charging £40 pn to the pax joining the end of the Worldie in 2011, and it's guaranteed that TQS Members would comply with, and respect the Cunard Code of Conduct even more effectively that the pax did who joined 15 mths ago!

Experience shows otherwise, Myles.
As far as atmosphere on board, team spirit and all other things that have been good in the distant past,
our 17 nights on board Queen Victoria in April were about as close to being on board QE2 as we've experienced yet :)
Why not try her and see?!

I'm in but must qualify my statement with a hint of "it may take a while".  1/2 way around the world to Dubai is no easy task.  Well worth it but no easy task.

I would settle on 3006 Mauretania Outside Single cabin... Although its classed as a single it has a upper berth, folded away, so you gain from two closets, It has soo many memories and is the only one Iv had over two different years.

However Ideally the Queen Elizabeth suite..
Now,What cabin would you all pick and why.

I'd actually given this some thought earlier and realised... I didn't care!  As long as I get back on board, and she's mostly intact, I'll be happy :)  (even if the Lum's no reeking!)

John, perhaps you could maintain your list in the first message on this topic?  It will be less confusing that way as more and more members add their names.   ;D

Perhaps they might offer an early booking discount for active members. ;)

Seriously Rob, even those tiny  MIs on 5 Deck would be great, as you say just to step aboard would be enough to re kindle the memories of an era long since lost of that of being onboard the worlds best loved and most famous ocean liner ever  ;D

In fact tell you what, to heck with the Pol Acker l will bring one of my Flagons of whisky..I have another one due tomorrow
If lm going off topic ::), l dont care, Hit me :o do what you want, but the QE2s future looks more secure than it ever did... ;D...

Would absolutely love to join all of you if it's possible. I greatly detest flying so I'd have to depend on Mighty Mary to get me over the pond and then one of the "sisters' to get me to Dubai!!
