Titanic and QM2 models
« on: Jun 13, 2012, 10:52 AM »
Hi All,
As I am doing a post on the airfix qe2 I wanted to show some of my finished work. I firstly built a model of the minicraft titanic which took six months to build and detail. I built it in plan style as I thought it would be different and I have not seen this done before.
I scratched build some part that were missing such as boom rigging, crane supports, canvas shelter supports ect. As there was considerable controversy over the colour of the funnels I found colour photos of mv Britannic and colour swabbed the funnels and printed to match the paint colour. I don’t think yellow was the right colour.
I built the case, added a piece of titanic coal and brass plate. It is mounted on impressionist pieces of Stephenson dry dock blocks that the ship sat on. I painted white because it set the model off very well and different from the normal wood.
The second model I did was the 1:700 revell qm2. I did not do the 1:400 because I did not have the space for the 1:400 as I had the titanic.
This is the same as the 1:400 without balcony’s and rails but a fabulous model any how. I did do a small bit of detailing by adding the balcony walls myself.
This will go into a case when I have the money with cunard memrobelia.
