Rosie, are you saying that unless one spends a fortune on doing the entire World Cruise one may not sample the full choice of food now?! Nor get newspapers?! Ye Gods...!!!
Hi Peter
Firstly - Cost! Isn't 'a fortune' a bit of a debatable term? We realise that because of an excellent travel agent, he has saved us much - our worldie, (and other travel) has cost considerably less than what many others have chosen to pay! And in many ways it was, and is still 'a fortune' for us too!
Secondly - the afternoon tea that I referred to (as well as morning coffee etc) was served in the area specially reserved for full-world cruise pax. I believe the area has since been changed -now behind closed doors (?), as there was considerable envy shown by a few non-full worldie pax! The food was usually the same as served elsewhere.
If you did a segment of the Worldie, I don't think there would be access to the newspapers - US, UK and sometimes Australian, these were printed off daily!
Throughout our trip, the Gods looked kindly upon us, however this was certainly not the case for the people of Christchurch NZ, Japan or many other parts of the world where poverty was rife - for example, I'll never forget the queues of men (without shoes) in Cochin - waiting in a line outside the dock gates hoping for work, or the begging of people throughout China, or the children in Thailand etc etc etc. In Vietnam, children were selling their A4 paintings to tourists, the older adults in the family I visited - none had teeth. Maybe we saw more results of extreme poverty because we weren't protected by the excursions laid on by the Company - if we had used these, they would have cost us very much more of 'the fortune' that we don't have!
The brief answer to your question is partially Yes, and the remainder is No!
Rosie - still missing the feeling of 'Being at Home'!
