New Deck Plans for Cunard Ships

Howdy Fellow Enthusiasts!

I hope that everyone is well. Anyway, I have come across something that I found to be a little interesting tonight...and wanted to share it with all of you. While scanning over the prices of staterooms aboard the QM2 (Cunard site), I found it strange that she has two sets of deck plans that you can view: one set for crossings/cruises up until April 2013, and another set of plans for the proceeding months. After further investigation, all three Cunard Queens have new sets of deck plans for mid 2013. Am I missing something? Why the new plans?

30 days until our first Crossing...HOORAY!

Hi!
About the change of deck plans - and although I haven't looked carefully, Cunard are changing the grading of reservation categories sometime in the near future...it's doubtful whether the actual deck plans will have been changed (!), isn't it more about whether you wish to book inside, outside (restricted view), outside, or super-posh!?
Have a wonderful time on board - and don't forget to take a ride in the external elevator when the going gets a bit rough!

Hi Rosie!

So glad to hear from you. Hope that all is well with you! The cabin re-grading is exactly what is going on...after I looked more into it. Now it makes sense. We are all so excited about this crossing. We each have a list of "TO DO's" while on the QM2, and the external elevator is on the top of my list.

Take care!

I'm glad this topic is here, because I just noticed the changed deck plans on their website just now, and was scared that they were changing the only in service ship that interests me before I've sailed on her.

Phew!

Hey Rob,

I was a little nervous myself when I'd originally noticed the changes. However, all appears to be normal...well, except for a some pricing changes. We have just returned (last Sunday) from our first Transatlantic on the QM2...and all I can say is....WOW! We were so impressed that we've (just today) booked another vacation on her. The 12 night "Autumn Colors", in October 2013. We have decided to forfeit a sheltered balcony stateroom this trip, in order to make it a little more affordable. In any case, while pricing staterooms last night we did take notice that the sheltered balcony staterooms are now considered a higher grade, as compared with staterooms on deck 8 (with obstructed views). To be honest, my family and I were extremely impressed with the overall size of our sheltered balcony. My parents were a little reluctant about the idea of the balcony being sheltered, but quickly grew on them. They look to be slightly larger than the balconies provided on Deck 8, perhaps even Decks 11 and 12 as well. Maybe guests were complaining about paying higher fares for balcony cabins with obstructed views/less room...and so we the categories were switched around? As I was unable to sail aboard QE2 before her retirement, I cannot give a comparison of both liners. However, cruising for most of my life it was wonderful to be aboard a true ocean liner.

Take Care!
