Hi all,

Just joined up to see if anybody who I worked with is still about. I joined in late 79 and flew home from Hong Kong 1980 and was working on the night gang when she was damaged in the tail end of a hurricane, 2 of the big windows in the tables of the world were smashed. We had repairs done in New York.

 I was also on her when we were in dry dock in New Jersey and they had the vote on the wages and mixed crew. I worked in the brick yard on the world cruise and some knew me by the nick name buzz. Hope someone may remember Jez Harmsworth also a winger in the tables.

Hello Simon -- and welcome!

I can see that you have a lot of memories of QE2 and many a story to tell, and I am already sitting back, ready to listen .

I hope you will find other crew members here whom you knew then, and that you will find lots of happy / amusing / perhaps even a few painful memories to share.

During those years, I did not even know that QE2 existed, and so, I missed a whole period of her varied life. It is the stories of those times that help some of us to catch up and imagine ourselves on board in those days.

Do you have any photographs to show us? It would be wonderful to catch some of the atmosphere on board.
