This is the QE3 Building in Glasgow, cleverly designed to resemble QE2's original white & black funnel.

Great well framed shot of an interestingly designed building-nice that the Shipbuilding heritage has been recognised by the developers
Excellent clarity from a cameraphone!

A most interesting building.

And good job on the photo as well. Cleverly framed as well. Love the lighting of the shot.

I will agree the building itself is cleverly designed, but why is it called the QE3 and not QE2 building.
And why do I get the feeling that smoke might just come out the top and the whole lot set out to sea? ;)
It looks heaps nicer than some cruise ships I could mention.

Rob, your QE3 building posting led me to a search of the architect involved, which turns out to be RMJM.  Before getting onboard QE2 for the Round Britain trip, I spent a day in Edinburgh touring the new Parliment Building designed by Spanish architect Enric Miralles in collaboration with local architects RMJM.  I went to see this building with an open mind and I have to report that I came a way with a much better appreciation for the building and the intentions of design team.  I've had this picture as a screen background for some time on my computer at work.  Clearly, someone drew inspiration for some of the building forms from shipbuilding on the Clyde.  Interestingly, this profile is only seen from certain angles.  For me, this view instantly reminded me of QE2 on the slipway in Clydebank at the shipyard. ;D  I had insisted to several colleages at work who commented on the pic that the designers MUST be QE2 fanatics.  Seeing that RMJM drew inspiration for an apartment building from the QE2 funnel, I think they were at it again here right down to the supports holding the ship in place. This is good linking, and great shots, btw!

And aren't the 'bits' (sorry!) on the side of the building similar to a profile of the cranes - the Titan Crane even?!
13 of them surrounding the upper windows and 26 below
I wonder about their significance?

Initially I wondered about the 'windowed bit' of building behind - and thought that it might resemble the funnel -
then realised that the funnel was added after she was launched!!

I wonder, have you been in touch with RMJM?

How interesting, I have looked at this building before without seeing the QE2 Funnel but I will look at this in a different light from now on

Also interested to read Highlander's information that the architect was also involved in the Scottish parliament.  Had a look at their portfolio and see they were also responsible for the design of the Falkirk Wheel.

I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

This wonderful view was one of the first things that we spoke about 'Live' at the time of The Forum's birth!
Together with the Titan Crane as well as the sleepers on the slipway at Clydebank - these are really special reminders.
Unless this building has already been listed, maybe Historic Scotland needs to be consulted!
