I was so disappointed that Waverley's sail from Glasgow tomorrow has been cancelled as we were looking forward to sailing down the Clyde to Loch Long.  Hope the Sunday trip goes ahead as planned, but unfortunately we cannot manage through to Glasgow on Sunday

She's currently making the long voyage from Southampton to Glasgow, having been stuck in Southampton for a few days due to bad weather.

Currently making more than 15 knots - go Waverley!

I see she took the proper side of the Isle of Wight.  I would have liked to have been at Fort Victoria at 09.42 this morning. :)

Making good time!

16 knots, which is faster than we went on QM2 last week!

PS Waverley, she has made Glasgow and will be sailing today, what a great effort.

Congratulations! How I would have loved to have been on board for that brilliant dash home :) ...

Sunday was a wonderful, sunny day to end the season.  Well done to Captain Ian Clark and crew, for getting her back safely, in time for the final sailing to take place!  :)

Really wish I could have been on board. I did the same trip in similar weather 2 years ago and it was marvellous.

My attention has been drawn to this clip, I do not think that it has previously had an airing on this forum:

Between having 'panda-hat' as the spokesperson and giving bum information (the Waverley is not 57 years old), I don't think it's something would have been in a hurry to air, TT! ;D

Good to see a mention of the Waverley on Chris Rust's cycling blog.  He mentions memories of the Clyde steamers in the 1950's and tells his readers how it still possible to enjoy a steamer cruise and how it can be a great way to extend your cycle touring.

Have a look especially if you have an interest in cycling in Scotland and would like to combine a trip on the Waverley with cycling plans.

I have heard a rumour (and I stress that point) that Cpt Clark is no longer with WEL - dont know any more than that but I would surmise that the fact that Balmoral is not sailing this season means two full time captains are not required.

What a shame - he was good guy and I think good for the ships' image as well.

Unfortunately it's not a rumour, Gav.  One step forward, two steps back...  >:(

Ach, thats a shame - as you say a step forward (sometimes one to the side) then a big one back!!

Well - Waverley was spotted at the mouth of Loch Long the other day on pre-season trials. She departs for Oban tomorrow for what I hope is an enjoyable weekend for those who sail and a good earner for the ship!!
