Same name but different ship Isabelle. The Pacific Princess in lay-up left the Princess fleet in 2002 while the PP that berthed near QE2 in 2008 is a firmer Renaissance ship.

She was originally the Sea venture, which came and took the passengers off QE2 when she broke down off Bermuda, with oil in the boiler feed water, April 1st 1974. QE2 was without main power for approx 2 weeks and was towed to Bermuda.

Former Pacific Princess in danger of capsizing

Many of you may have seen this news, but the former Pacific Princess, or "love boat" has been hauled from Genoa to Aliga, Turkey for demolition, and in the process has developed what is now a 45 degree list to starboard.  Reportedly two workers died yesterday from sewage fumes in an effort to pump her out, and the problem has only gotten worse.  I've not seen any definitive word on what's causing the list, but obviously she's taking on water somewhere--not surprising given the extent of corrosion she's suffered.  Demolition is on hold pending a resolution of her flooding.

Very sad photos on maritime matters. Makes you think about ships putting to sea when unfit...

I can visualise a Love Boat hotel could have worked somewhere...

Very sad to see any ship in this condition let alone a famous one like PP.

Hi Rob - Thanks for this link and indeed, it is so sad to see this ship in such a plight.  It is also sad to see the photos of the other ships in their various states.

The link doesn't seem to work for me either at home ( freezes my browser ) or at work ( I get a script stop message; when I click yes it gives a blank page ).

I have a different system at work ( W7, IE8 ) than I do at home ( an older set up ).

I could open it with no problem.  Try www.midshipcentury.com and then find the article once in the site.

Running Windows7 and IE10 at home and the link opened up ok, albeit a little slow to load.
