Long Beach port webcam
« on: Aug 30, 2011, 07:35 PM »
Hello all

I've just discovered the Long Beach port webcam on Kroooz-cams, it gives a distant view of Queen Mary and of any visiting cruise ships and QM2 when she visits.

Thomas
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

QM looks great in that webcam shot! And looks like a natural part of the city.

Too bad you have to travel though the industrial port facility to actually get to her.  It would be much better if she were integrated into the town of Long Beach.  Same goes for any historic ship used in the same way (this is a subtle hint for entrepeneurs who are developing their QE2 Hotel, Museum & Conference Center business plan!)

When you look at the QM on the webcam view, wouldnt she be better placed at that little island, looking at the cam view its directly below her. any idea what that place is?
I agree with Bob C in that her position where she is, granted its a nice quiet location, its just that there is nothing else there, except for the terminal for the Carnival ships The Seaport village is a ghost town, and it might get QM away from that submarine "thing"
Then again just going to the Queen Mary is an experience.
(just my thoughts)
