The Health & Safety Department would....not be happy.

What on earth were they thinking of - not a 'high visibility' jacket in sight - and no, it's not because it's in black and white - they are clearly not wearing one !

And no ropes...

Looks like one of thme IS wearing a hard hat! Most of the guys working in the yards were strangers to such safety devices back then

Tut, that's nothing... ever seen the photographs of the workers constructing the Empire State Building?

( Which is sort of on topic since New York was QE2's primary destination! )

The man on the right of the photograph is Joe Lunt. He was the permanent representative of Cunard at Clydebank throughout the design and construction of the QE2. He interfaced directly with all of the shipyard departments, especially the ship drawing office. His contribution to the success of the building of the vessel was immense.

Hiviz jackets/hardhats - get real, this was 1966! I think Joe Lunt's 'hardhat' was an old miner's helmet.
