Many people refer to QE2 as an "RMS" which she never was. She was SS and then MV.

I think that SS and TSMV sound better than RMS anyway. Not that she needs one, she is simply known as QE2.

She doesn't need one. QE2 is grand enough. ;)

Why was the letter writing paper found in the cabins RMS! Why did they have a "specie" room?

I don't know Rod... I do know that while QE2 carried Royal Mail (occasionally or on a fixed schedule I do not know) Cunard thought that the "RMS" prefix was not chic and modern enough for their new liner.

Hence why they made her TSMV (Twin Screw Motor Vessel) when she became diesel-electric I guess? ???

Hi Adam and Adam
There is a long long topic here regarding QE2's status and 'title' and the reasons why there was ambivalence about the use of the prefix RMS....you might be interested!

Rosie
QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.
