QUEEN ELIZABETH LAUNCH BROCHURE 1938
« on: Feb 14, 2011, 06:36 PM »
Hello Rob,

I though your members might be interested in a video that I have put on You Tube. I managed to get a loan of the original launch brochure for the Queen Elizabeth from 1938 and photographed it and made it into a video. You can see the video at
I also finally got round to putting a link to The QE2 Story website on 'My Favorite Links' page on my website.

Best regards.

You might find the auction site Ebay would give a far better exposure for such a piece of history .
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

Thank-you for taking the trouble to post these photos.

I originate from Clydebank and my father worked on the Queen Elizabeth so it is so special to see these photos from the book.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Where's the print of Samuel Cunard on the backside of the front cover?

Mine came loose, but I still have it. ;) Just don't want to glue it back on... yet!

It will probably go on Ebay too. After 16 years it is time for someone else to be the caretaker of her.

Where's the print of Samuel Cunard on the backside of the front cover?

I've just checked my copy and it to doesn't have any photo of SC on the inside cover, nor does it have any markings to suggest there was ever one attached.  Reviewing the video at the start of this topic there is an additional insert which is attached to the bottom of the page containing the details of the royal attendance and date of launch.  The attachment, kept in the same style as the book itself, provides an apology from the King for his non-attendance at the ceremony.

It fell off and was lost! Mine was just barely hanging on when I got it, and fell off after a couple of page turns. Yes, it was there. If I have a chance I'll attach a photo.
