"The Royal Voyage"
« on: Sep 15, 2010, 10:07 PM »
Watching this VHS Video tonight.   (thanks to Myles, again, for lending it to me).

Its recorded as QE2 celebrated Cunard's 150th anniversary in 1990.  It includes the record breaking 30+ knots average crossing from New York to Southampton, and then the visits to Cork, Greenock, Liverpool and the Royal Review with the Queen and the Duke coming aboard from the Royal Yacht's "barge".  She looks just amazing and it really makes you "feel" the position QE2 had in the national psyche 20 years ago.

PS: The "1987" Grand Lounge, with the double stairway, and evening dancing under the 'stars' was the best version - and this video proves it!!
Passionate about QE2's service life for 40 years and creator of this website.  I have worked in IT for 28 years and created my personal QE2 website in 1994.
