We spent our honeymoon on board in May 1983.  We've been busy scanning and reducing some of our pictures from the voyage for you all to see.  Check out the hairstyles!  ;D

Yes Cruise Princess we were the talk of the town.  At that time it was quite unusual to go on a transatlantic voyage, and of course we fell in love with QE2.  Unfortunately we did not keep a diary so I can't help out with a dull Saturday night.  (nothing on telly at all!)  The best I can do is post some more pictures and leave the rest to your imagination.  ::)

Thanks again for posting...they are just wonderful...

I love the picture of you, the wind and your bouquet!

As for the places where these pictures were taken, several of them puzzle me... for instance, the one of the after decks, where I recognise the golf cage, but cannot work out what is the apparent mess below, or indeed on the left hand side of the picture. Are these areas not yet tidied up after the Falklands expedition?

From memory the white upright sections ....would that not be for the skeet shooting at the stern?

Just looked at the Captains Cocktail party ( in the grand lounge at that time)..picked out John Burton hall and Keith Stanley...who would be senior Officers at that time and eventually became Qe2 Masters,...looking hard at the others but it's difficult to see properly..but those 2 stand out... Also Mark Joyce band leader....
Was the Captain Peter Jackson?? Can;t quite recall...funnily enough from this pic at a distance he looks like Paul Wright as he is today!

Hello Cruise Princess
I did not throw my bouquet into the Atlantic, I left them on QE2 (with my heart  :'().  It was actually May 27th we boarded, just a bit windy!  I've put on a better picture of the Captain's party.  I think Peter Jackson was on leave.  It was a stand-in Captain, Robin Wadsworth.  Can you see the Doctor, he was the one Alan Whicker spoke to in Whicker's World.  We travelled with both John Burton-Hall and Keith Stanley in the nineties.

Isabelle, I've put on a few more pictures of the stern.  It had all been tidied up after the Falklands.  Below the Golf Cage was the little roof and windows of the Piano Bar (I think at that time), later to be the Yacht Club.  The large black thing on the left of the picture was  the platform which could be lowered to board the tenders when going ashore at anchor ports. ( one on each side ).  All the davits for the lifeboats were painted black.  I've also put a picture of the Midships Lobby on in it's old colour scheme.

Fabulous photos...may as well put the entire album on now!!

Luv that piano bar later became  the yacht club with the wavy ceiling ...remember???

funny wee story now...when waiting in the dentists waiting room earlier this year there was one of those real life docus on the telly ..wasnt paying much attention...it was about the Hampshire traffic police or something...then I looked up and here was Keith Stanley...poor soul was involved in a traffic accident...but he was ok..his grandaughter I think was injured...but as far as I know got better....we hear about him periodically as friends are friends if you know what I mean...he was a very nice Captain...and we sailed with him many times........he had Captained the Countess in the Caribbean previously..  and I always remember JBH being interviewed on a Cunard promo video saying his biggest thrill as Captain when arriving to the ship at the dock..is looking up and saying its BIG its Black  its shiny and its MINE!!  Thought that was good.....

And I always got lost around that sports centre at the stern with Alpha and Beta tenders there...it was a bit of a Maze was'n;t it?
But much preferred the coloured stairways ...that awful green they were all painted after the last big refit was truly awful.

Hello again.
I loved the staircase too, I also think they spoiled it when they made it green

When we talk about the sports centre at the stern it reminds me of the night we left Southampton for the last time.  That is exactly where we stood watching the fireworks.  I remember her sounding her whistle and the tears were running down my face.  :'(

We really liked Captain Stanley, he was very down to earth.  I always thought JBH was very regal looking, he really suited QE2.  I think it was his beard!

I've attached photos of them.  I'm getting a dab hand with these pictures now.  ;D

You are way ahead of me in the picture applying!! Funny those last  2 pics you have added we have on the mantelpiece in our shippy room..I SHOULD take them down and scan them shouldn't I??  Always thought JBH regal too..he is like the Kents...and as you say suited QE2....it was a certain type of Captain for her wasn't it..most of them did.. very few that didn't .specially Commodore Warwick...he was a real sea Captain wasn't he and his lovely wife Kim of course...she was so kind to the crew..

WE have so much in common......

We keep going off topic here...its like our own wee private conversation hahahahaha

Yes I thought Captain Warwick was just right too.  He suited Queen Mary 2 and I loved Kim.  She was blasting Mary's whistle all the time on the maiden voyage.  Do you remember?  Guess we are way off the subject.  We will just need to meet up and compare our pictures!!!!
