Lynda - -I'm not criticising your reporting but I'm wondering where the name "South America, Pacific and Orient Odyssey" came from. Cunard made much our of it being her "Farewell World Cruise" - even down to luggage tags, ticket wallets and other souvenirs bearing the logo for the trip. That Logo included the title "Farewell World Cruise"

Hi Malcolm,

The reason why Lynda has listed the voyage for 2008 this was it that South America, Pacific and Orient Odyssey was it's original name,

The voyage was marketed and sold as South America, Pacific and Orient Odyssey before the retirement of QE2 was announced in June 2007.

Once the retirement was announced, it was quickly renamed "Farewell World Voyage" despite it not being a full world voyage at all - had a nice ring to it.

I booked in June 2007 just days before the retirement announcement was made having no idea that 2008 would be her last year. Lucky!

Oh blame those guys in PR...if the old girls going out, shes going out in style..

Its a shame the same couldnt be said for her "Voyage to Dubai" Its almost as though they were expecting to take QE2 back under cover of darkness    ;)

The Round UK voyage we were on Malcolm lm sure Cunard didnt know what to call it, l saw three different names given to it...Four if you include Voyage of the Damned  ::)
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!

Thank you :) We didn't book until after the announcement so never knew the cruise by that name.
