If QE2 could hear you what would you say to her today?

A bit of nonsense really but if our dear old girl could hear you sitting out there all by herself sweltering to death... WHAT would you say to her today?  After all this time out there....waiting......

and more so what do you think would be her reply??

Yesterday I got a text from my m8 in Dubai to say he was down at the creek / heritage village. There was a great Lebanses restaurant there. I told him to go over the road and tell the old girl we all still love her. Not sure if he did or not but that would be my thoughts on the matter  :)

I would second that Alistair.

I would also say to her that she is not forgotten and I am looking forward to the day when I can be with her again. 

What would be her reply.  "I am waiting to welcome you onboard"

I'd be of two minds.

One would be telling her how important she is to me, and how much I still care about her. How she's had such an amazing impact on my life, and how even though I can't sail on her anymore, the six days we spent together on the Atlantic were the most significant six days in laying out the next three years of my life.

The other would be thinking something along the lines of, "I just found a ship that can hear and understand! Now we have the gimmick to help preserve her! We can rent her out for therapy sessions!" ;D

I mean, if Queen Mary can have ghosts, QE2 can have her gimmick too... ;)

I would say:

Hello old girl - one of my life regrets is that I never sailed with you. Being Clydebuilt myself you epitomise all that was good about Clyde Shipbuilders and you make me feel very very proud.

BTW ps Waverley says hello and that she misses meeting you in the Solent.

I would probably stand there, grin widely and say Hi while waving my hand. And QE2 would look at me like I'm crazy.

Or.

Me: I MISS YOU! I LOVE YOU! *attempt to hug the ship*
QE2: *thinking* Someone please get this crazy person away from me.

I know you've heard what's in the papers and your Captain Mac is doing his best for you...so sit tight  we are all wishing for you.....we can't make any promises  or get your hopes up but at least you know the world is still talking about YOU..

Thanks Highlander that was lovely..A captain and his ship have that very special bond that never goes away,...( Just as long as Sue doesn't feel second best!! LOL)
