Why do I remember this writer?

Those of you who were in Liverpool Cathedral for QE2's 40th Anniversery you will remember she spoke during the celebrations.

A true daugter of Liverpool.

How sad.  She spoke beautifully about QE2 at Liverpool Cathedral.

I had the priviledge of meeting her and getting to know her over the years with her travelling on the ship. Me and my boss went round to her house to ask her would she take part in the 2008 Concert and in typical Beryl fashion she poured us very large drinks and said she would be delighted. In the following weeks things went quiet and we kept nudging her to let us know what her final line woul be so we could lead into the next song. She was always very vague. On the day of the Concert she arrived at the Cathedral and came up to use with bits of paper with al sorts of scribble on and asked "Will this do?"  We were very worried because w couldn't decipher what she had written. We neeeded have worried as her speech was one of the most brilliant and moving. I shall always remember the line "QE2 will sail in our hearts forever".

RIP Dame Beryl.
