In the unlikely event...

...QE2 was prepared for anything!

The Buttons from left to right read: 16 inch Gun / Room Service / Nuclear Warhead / Exocet / Torpedoes / Depth Charge / Self Destruct

These were originally planned as the emergency stops for the main engines, but were never connected.
I actually replaced those lables in 2004!

Hi Holynougat,

What was it about the passengers and their 'room service' that took precedence above Man Overboard!!

This was taken in October 1992 when the panel was a different colour. The buttons read from left to right: CHAFF, PHALANX, SEA WOLF, DEPTH CHARGE, 16 INCH GUN, TORPEDO, EXOCET, CAPTAIN'S EJECTOR CHAIR & SELF DESTRUCT. Easy to see which one has been pushed most often!

One can just imagine the discussion going on here!

"Hey you guys, been a long time since the last pay rise - someone needs to get promotion so we can all move up one! OK, who's going to push the eject button this time?" 8)

I like the fact that ROOM SERVICE is included among these deadly weapons.

"The 16-inch guns have failed to work... >:( ... we now move to Alarm Stage 2 : the Room Service forces will do their thing!".

Brilliant - great shipboard humour from the fitters and engineers!
