Have been reading 'TRIBUTE TO A QUEEN'  John Maxtone Graham. on page 58 there's a mention regarding the propellers,   "The LIPS controllable pitch propellers each absorb 44MW @ 144rpm, thereby breaking the previous world record for the most powerful controllable pitch propellers.    The dia of each propeller is 5800mm and each Grim Vane Wheel (registered  t m) measures 6700mm".  Wonder what other World Records does the QE2 hold ? ;) ;)

This technical paper describes the theory behind the Grimm Vane Wheels.  There is also mention of regulating fins near the propellers to redirect the flow of water.  This type of fin was also fitted to QE2 as was posted previously, speculating their function.
