BBC Timewatch Final Voyage programme
« on: Feb 19, 2009, 07:58 PM »
This message is from the Maritime Historian Bruce Peter on the fascinating and long-established Liners List Yahoo Group.

Hello All

Just to give you advance warning, on 28th February, the new BBC
Timewatch TV documentary entitled 'QE2: The Last Voyage' will be shown
on BBC 2. The website pertaining to this particular Timewatch
documentary will be up, all being well, in two days' time.

I do hope that you enjoy it - it'll certainly be interesting to see
the final edit.

Can I be really cheeky and ask if there is anyone willing to record and pass this on to me?

I don't have a TV!
(But am sure I will be turning up somewhere to someone that has and getting comfy on the sofa that night!)  ;D

Thank you, Ali, for having asked! I am in the same situation... no TV and no desire to buy one between now and then  ;)

So, perhaps, once you have watched the recording, Ali, you could lend it to me... if someone could kindly record... ?

Isabelle,

They all seem like a friendly bunch here - I'm sure they'll be able to manage one for each us?  ;)

If not, I am more than willing to share  ;D (although I imagine it could be a slightly tear stained second hand version.....)

This ...is the Officer of the Watch

The Watch will be watching, recording and watching - again and probably again - and technology permitting, will send  a copy to both Officers,  Cruise- side!

The Watch continues...

Yup Hollihedge - The tears again...

I wonder whether Rob, it would be at all possible to have the Forum advertised at the end of the programme -
like the BBC put in 'Action Line' details after there's been an upsetting topic in the previous programme -
Hope that they would, but bet they won't...

Think it goes out at 8.00pm UK time

Do you know I have just had an e-mail from Cunard  - as a past passenger -  telling me about this very programme - they even go as far as saying "their beloved QE2"     so why did they abandon her???  They need to choose their words carefully!!  still I bet it will be one emotional programme!!  It was bad enough that very day - I too couldn't hold the tears back - especially when we followed her down Southampton Water!!

Just got my e-mail too..and they are still using the "World's most loved ship" (you don't say!) to sell voyages on QM2 and QV!!!  What a cheek!!

How very interesting...!

Now that you mention it, I realise that I have had none of those regular e-mails from Cunard since we left QE2 at the end of September... they must know that there is not the slightest chance of my taking up any of their suggestions and offers for the foreseeable future  :'(

Me also and agree it was rather bizarrely worded

Good find Rosie and I see JS will be making an appearance among others, which is always good for a laugh.  Not sure about Jeffrey Archer tho

I'm in a bit of a dither about what to do Saturday night....
There are rumours of the terrible twosome planning some kind of wine fuelled screening party whilst hoping to spot themsleves in a few screenshots  ::)
Do I head to Mother Dearest's and join in the frivolities? (Saturday night drinking with the oldies not my first choice of activity seeing as I'd have to stay there if I decide to join in with a glass or two)
Go there to watch then drive home to share in the recollections here?
Or take my chances with iPlayer and hope to be able to join in with conversations in the Crystal Bar??

ooh, big decisions  ???

For the UK members especially, please come along to the live 'virtual Crystal Bar' chat room tomorrow night after the programme to discuss it.

See you there!
