Thanks for the photo Andy. Looking forward to seeing more and hearing your impression of the ship's decor.
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank

Woulnt it be a wonderfull idea if something could be done about my beloved Kungsholm ???? where is she now is she still sailing some where as a student mercy ship or is she laid up,i wish for het to spend her retired years back in Sweden where she belongs,i had some wonderfull time on her as crew in 1969 be fore i went to work on ss Rotterdam.
Went on board ss Rotterdam in Rotterdam last Aug on my bi annual visit to Holland and it was very emotional to see her again and went on board and spent nearly 7 hrs looking everywher from the bridge to the former crew cabin kitchens and dining rooms,it was absolutely glorious, there was 8 of us all together all ex crew it was an unforgettable day.
So i hope that what they did to the Rotterdam can also be done for the Kungsholm.

Very sad news about MV Veronica, 'the hotel' she has become closes.

QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

She was never meant to stay in Duqm -- hopefully, there are already plans for her next location.

I must say, this closure appears to be a bit sudden for those of us who have not been following her fate regularly -- so I hope that this is not a bad sign for her future. If she were to be relocated to a place that is somewhat more accessible for air travellers, it might even be an advantage for those of us who would like to see her in her hotel ship role.

The last time we saw here was in Geirangerfyord in 2006…from the QE2…the last two Clyde built liners together in the same spot…Then as the Mona Lisa she was looking tired, but i recall her passengers seemed to be enjoying themselves…

Looking hopeful indeed. And Gothenburg would be ideal for her -- another good reason to visit this lovely city! Fingers crossed for her and Mr Sid.

Under the 'I knew I had it somewhere ' header her she is inside Barcelona harbour in 2005, we were on
Sea Princess (before we found out how reasonable prices for QE2 were) watching her come in & wishing

It looks like Mr Sid has not been able to secure a suitable berth for the Kungsholm in Gothenburg and is now in negotiations with the Port of Liverpool.

That's a shame, she'd have fitted in there in the way Rotterdam does in Rotterdam!

He should consider Glasgow. There's a nice spot adjacent to the Glasgow Riverside museum that was once investigated for QE2.... When I walk past the space I imagine...

It's such a pity that Dubai have held QE2 hostage for 5 years and made it impossible for anyone to try to do something similar.

I don't see a link to their actual website above...

They have a great photo here - http://www.mskungsholm.com/GALLERY/ - of 2 Clydebuilt twin-funnel liners, built 30 years apart.

Great looking ship with stunningly beautiful interiors, it would be so sad if yet another classic vessel is not able to find a suitable home.
