  • At Mach 2 three days after being on QE2...
A couple of years ago, on the Concorde forum, a "virtual seat plan" was created by everyone saying which seat(s) they had flown in on Concorde, and when, the aim being to see what the "spread" was and which were the most popular seats.

I suggest we could easily do the same on here by listing which cabins we have sailed on QE2 in, and when.

I'll kick off with mine:

Cabin 5050, Southampton 1st September 2002 - Civitavecchia 7th September 2002.

I don't see why not. :)

It would probably be a good idea to indicate the crew as such, like you have done, though - and maybe only list voyage details ( in the format I have done with mine ) for passengers as, obviously, the crew will have sailed to a huge number of destinations.  Perhaps state the dates of service for the crew, though?

What will be really interesting would be if anyone has not just had the same cabin as someone else, but if it was on a consecutive voyage as well; coincidences like that make good reading don't they? :)

PS Rob, that's fine - I only stuck it in there first instead of here because of the word "virtual"

I was onboard from July 1990 to August 1992 and from April 1993 to August 1998, that is in all 23 contracts.

I was thinking how to do this on a website, I could be a web form that logs everyone's responses in a database table, that's pretty easy.

But I'm trying to work out in my head how we could present that graphically, like as a virtual cabin plan.  I'll give it some more thought.................

That would be lovely, Richard - I'm not sure but the virtual Concorde seating plan might still be on that forum, which would show how it was done then.

The only tricky thing really is going to be how to show it clearly when the same cabin is in play more than once.

Probably some sort of colour coding would work.  You'd just do a group by and count in the SQL query.

Do you have a link to the Concorde one?

I can't find it I'm afraid; it may have been lost when the host was subjected to a hack attack 3 or 4 years ago; I'll try to find out if anyone kept a copy of it.

Hi Richard and Peter - and all!

Just a couple of thoughts and as you know, I know nowt about doing anything on a computer, so what follows could be rubbish!

Is this any use?
http://www.ba97.com/ba97/concorde_seatplan.htm

or this?!!
http://www.cunard.co.uk/QEliz2_2007_Flash/deckplans.html

alternatively
Might it be an idea to convert a theatre seating plan
as in each row = a deck, each seat, equivalent to a cabin?
http://www.londontheatre.co.uk/londontheatre/seatingplans/olivier.htm

alternatively
Richard - might it be possible to just do a series of doors along alleyways, as on your wonderful site, and each of us could insert our names, as on a label, some doors may have more names than others?

I've been asking on the Concorde forum; it appears the thing was lost when the host was subject to a hack attack a few years ago, so I'm afraid I can't show you how it was done then - unless anyone who still posts there saved a copy, but I won't hold my breath.

Maybe we should collect the information first then we can see what we can do with it??

I guess we'd need persons name, cabin number, date/year - what else?

I think just the basic information like I put in my OP ( Cabin 5050, Southampton 1st September 2002 - Civitavecchia 7th September 2002. ) otherwise it'll start getting too complicated?

Now that we have over 640 QE2 fans. It would be good to find out how many of the "members" have travelled onboard the QE2 and which stateroom did you occupy.

I was on deck 2 with Stateroom number 2009 at the front of the ship.   July 2008.

Where were you?    It would be good to see a complete list and to discover if anyone had the same stateroom.

Might it be possible to organise it deck by deck rather then just putting down a lot of numbers ?
From the moment you first glimpsed the Queen,
you just knew you were in for a very special time ahead.!
