Here are a few newly uploaded photos, by Anne McKay, of QE2 quite a few years ago :

I can recognise the Queen's Room on the second pic, but wonder about the first, and also wonder about when this might have been?

I agree Louis ....much more like being aboard ship than the new one ever was and sitting around that piano  giving  your music requests or singing along  to the pianist with cocktail in hand was great wasn't it? that ceiling always amazed me though!!!

Great early photo here :

If you click on the black-and-white photo under December 19, 2008, you will arrive here :

This looks like a 1969 / 1970 photo to me... would that be right?

Great movement in the scene, and lovely to see all those people out on deck, enjoying themselves in one of the very best places to be  :D  !

Certainly an early photo... if you look closely, you can see the shell door to the stbd bunker station on 5 deck is open.

I went to save the picture on my computer and in the file name is the date: 13 November 1971 (QE2 13-11-1971 boston.jpg).  The photo also shows folks on the small deck just forward of the Lookout Bar.

Rob, you asked me if people were allowed on that deck on my Flickr photo here (https://www.flickr.com/photos/33120597@N03/3405714373/in/set-72157616250526148/)

Looks like the answer is yes.
